  • Ugh

So, Thursday will be day 14 of Induction. I thought I was doing great...until...a friend made my dinner for me on Sunday. They said it was completely induction friendly...and, now, I just got a copy of the recipe and one of the ingredients they used (a cream soup) had a bunch of starch's in it. I specifically asked about all of the food. And, when she said 'creamed veggies' I thought it was using true heavy cream.

UGH...I'm not going to let this discourage me. In all, it probably wasn't a huge amount of carbs (really hard to measure as it was just a component), but something to be very cautious of next time.

Ah, I knew I should've cooked myself. I've been doing wonderfully when I cook all of my own foods because I know the ingredients...fresh and healthy veggies and proteins...

Something to add to the 'what i've learned when doing Atkins properly' list

    Re: Ugh

Is your friend doing Atkins? Then you've learned that not everyone has the same "standards" that you have!

It's a good lesson, however, keep the big picture in mind. Nothing is ruined unless you let it be. Just keep moving forward.

      Re: Ugh

Been there, done that! My mom invited my family to dinner promising to be very strict to atkins. She had read the parts of the book about induction and was sure she could handle it...and then afterward, she said "oh I added this and that to make it taste better"....All stuff I couldn't have!!! I was sooo upset but didn't want be rude either....Learned my lesson!! I ask in advance what she is making and if it isn't for me, I bring my own.

        Re: Ugh

We all seem to learn this the hard way

Often other people do not have the same interpretation of the rules as we do, so we need to be on our guard when eating food prepared for us.

I have found it does become less irritating the longer I follow this WOE and I treat it as a challenge/game.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
