  • Net Carbs....Is this ok.

    I have been eating alot of veggies like jicama, broccoli, bell peppers, onions, and such....my total carbs is about 50 grams a day including non veggie carbs and i am taking in about 20-30 grams of fiber. some days i am over my net 20 by like 3-5 grams...is that bad or should i bring it down some?

    I applaud you for eating your veggies--many people struggle with that! It is best to keep your net carbs at 20 or less, as Dr. A said that is where almost everyone will lose. Also, having a clean induction will help show you what your metabolic resistance is.

    All that being said, don't sweat it too much. Nearly everyone has an "oh crap, I didn't know I couldn't do that" moment during induction. Just look forward to OWL rung 1 where we can add 5 veggie carbs!

      induction is about more then just staying below 20 net grams of carbs. it is about following rules created by Dr Atkins and having us really examine our eating. While there are many healthy vits and minerals in the veggies limiting portions is an important concept for us to learn from day one cause when we work our OWl and see how little 5 net grams of some of those food rungs are it is easy to say I had more then 3 cups in induction and it didn't harm me so I can have more then just those few _____ in OWL too.

      Overeating is the reason most of us need to shed body fat so don't start your atkins overeating too.

      If you enjoy the veggies that much you could just start on rung one of OWL and skip induction
