    hi guys

    iam going to start the atkins diet on tuesday

    i currently lost 2 1/2 stone but iam looking to lose another 3 stone

    iam i trying to aim to eat 3 meals a day or should i be aimong to eat 5 / 6 small protein meals per day , using my carbs up with green veg?

    Hello Ann,
    I think you should do whatever works out best for your daily schedule.
    I eat smaller meal thru the week because I get up at 5 am for work and I really feel like I need a snack around 10am.
    On the weekends I tend to eat 3 times a day, depending on what we are doing sometimes I have 1 snack.

    I try to eat a cup of veggies with my eggs in the moring, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, onions,
    have a salad at lunch with a mixture of things and leave dinner open depending on how many more grams of veggies I need to hit that 15 net carbs. The hardest thing I have found doing is getting my veggies up to that 15 net carbs.. I havent been very adventurous yet eating the veggies on the list... I am aiming for changing my taste buds.

    Well wishes on starting.. and dont hesitate to ask a ton of questions. Everyone here is so helpful and informative.

      i dont think i could eat veggies in the morning

      iam pretty adventurous in the cooking department it will be ok for me to use my carbs in the evening for my main meal chicken stir fry with peppers, onions green veg ect ?

      what do u eat for lunch?

          Hi Anne
          Welcome to our international ADBB family

          Yes - fit your meals around your day/appetite and try to spread your 3 cups of vegetables from the 2 lists across them if you can.

          I am not sure if you have a copy of the version of Atkins we are following here - the 2002/3 edition of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR).

          You can probably pick one up in a charity shop if you haven't got your own copy yet, or take a look at our Atkins Diet FAQ forum and scroll down to about posts numbers 20 or so for the specific ones on induction rules and the list of allowed foods to make sure we are on the 'same page' as regards advice.
          Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )

            i have a atkins carb book its given me a understanding of the diet

            its so easy to think ur doing well and unaware you have made some errors along the way

            i will start of tuesday and do my best
            i will let you know how my first week goes

              I didnt think I could eat veggies in the mornings either, but youd be surprised how many things you can add to your eggs.
              For Lunch I usually eat, tuna, chicken salad or on a bed of lettuce.. (always put pickles, celery, cauliflower in my salad)
              Some days I just eat a salad with chicken, tomatoes, and lettuce. I bake a couple of chicken breast with Mrs Dash about twice a week. Then I always have it ready. My favorite quick meal is when I use 2 large cans of chicken breast (13 oz) and cook with a can of tomatoes and green chilis... It is great to eat a few bites as a snack, on a bed of lettuce or I add some sour cream and have chicken tacos, (without the shells of course)
