  • Is Ginger allowed as a spice?

    Hello all . . .

Any of you know if Ginger is allowed during induction. I have searched through the DANDR and can't find it. Either fresh or powdered ?

Can't make a faux - Terryaki chicken without it! :no

Ginger is a spice. according to the Induction foods list:

    Spices
All spices to taste, but make sure none contain added sugar.
It does have a carb count, so be sure to account for that.

By the way, post your teriyaki recipe in the Main Dishes forum, the title alone sounds yummy.

My understanding is spices are allowed but be aware of the carb count (fitday and others can tell you that).

Fresh ginger has a carbcount of 10 per 100 grams, just make sure you count them, you don't use that much of it anyway.

www.fitday.com lists for 1 tablespoon of ground ginger
          Total Carbohydrate 3.82g
          Dietary Fiber 0.675g
So just over 2 carbs per T
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
