    Welcome to ADBB!

Well, what you're eating may be low carb, but it's not Atkins, nor is it healthy. Atkins isn't "no carb".

The first bit of advice is to read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002), or check out:

    www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6782-what-rules-induction.html

    www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html

You need to do some self-education on what's really involved!

Not having carbs is not Atkins.

You should read the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, if you want to follow Atkins. This is an Atkins board.

Eggs and cheese have carbs, by the way.

Drinking water is much better than drinking diet soda. The minimum for Atkins is 64 oz of pure water.

        Re: need some help

Here we follow Atkins. Which is very low carb but not zero carb. We eat lots of veggies on Atkins but we limit cheese and we try to cut out valueless chemical sweetened sodas In stead we drink tons of clean water to cleanse our bodies and keep us healthy.

I recommend you buy Dr.Atkins New Diet Revolution from 2002. Read it and follow it. It works
        Good luck

            Re: need some help

Well, at first blush, ditch the diet soda altogether. Lots of folks can attest to weight loss stalls and sugar-craving inducing brought on by the sweet taste of the aspartame. Second, the idea of a "no carb" diet is sort of reckless and unnecessary...not to mention likely dangerous. But you are not eating a no carb diet, as cheese and eggs both have carbohydrates in them. Fiber...the stuff that helps us to bulk up waste products, and sugars which are necessary to some degree in the conversion of fat to energy, are necessary. What you want to avoid are refined sugars...eat low carbohydrate vegetables high in fiber and varied in nature.

Those are the two biggest issues I see. Your diet is unheathily restrictive (I think I just made up a word!) and your consumption of diet soda is going to continue to make it somewhat miserable for you by making you crave sweet things...at least that has been my experience.

Also, you say that you are doing this diet...but you don't clarify how long you have been eating this way. I'm curious the length of time you've been eating like this, as sometimes moving into ketosis takes some time for folks...

              Hi
              Welcome to our ADBB family

Maybe if you like to list some details of exactly what foods you are eating we can help suggest some improvements to get you more on the Atkins track?

We have a special forum called 'Review my Menu'

or you can just put it in this thread if you prefer.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                Re: need some help

Thank you all for your reply's. I thougtht the induction of atkins was 20 carbs or under. Here is an example of what i am eating. Breakfast a 1/2 cup of egg salad,
lunch frozen hamburger that you can microwave with a slice of cheese. Dinner either roast or baked chicken. I was having coffee with sweet and low but reading on these forums say that is not good. i was having the diet pop but will cut that out also. I just need my caffine fix in the am or I cant get going. I have also eaten the jello with no carbs with the wipped topping that also has one or two carbs. And a few times a week i will have salad with cuccumbers, egg turkey breast and ranch dressing
any other tips that i can use?

You should really take some time and read those links Atkinsgal08 put up for you. They have answered your question in length...now you just have to let your eyes and fingers do the walking. It will make sense after that.

                  Best wishes!

                    Re: need some help

Read the links. And get your veggies in. Atkins is about getting the best nutrition you can from the carbs you eat and that means getting most of your carbs from veggies. Not just salad ones, but yummy dense ones like broccoli, green beans, spinach, asparagus, brussel sprouts, jicama, oh and so many more. It helps to have some veggies at each meal. I have 2-3 cups of veggies a day (I'm in OWL) if not more.

And try and avoid artificial sweeteners, they stall many people. Many do okay on Splenda, some don't. Just remember to count the carbs in them too. Caffeine might be okay, but it can also stall some folks. Atkins would be a great time to curb alot of habits and addictions, like sugar and caffeine. You may want to use this time to cut down on the caffeine amount or try and go without it for a while.

I personally got rid of the diet soda habit with Atkins. I do have coffee but limit it to one cup a day typically. I found I drink more water when I avoid them. And my weight loss is better.

Also, it looks you like might not be eating enough. Make sure you are eating more than 1200 calories, if not more depending on your weight. You can eat alot more on Atkins! And make sure you're getting enough fat in as well. Many here use an online tracker like Fitday to track their food, net carbs, etc. It's a great way to make sure you're eating right and you can make your profile public and post the link here. Folks here can be very helpful in offering suggestions to improving how you're eating and making recommendations that might help your weight loss.
