Newbie here and on day 2...I can do this...I can do this...I can do this...

Welcome. Have a seat, put your feet up, and then read, respond, repeat. Seriously great to have you here. Let's get that mantra changed from "I can do this" to "I am doing this!"

Thank you both : ) Ok, I am doing this, and so far it is going ok. I am doing much better at drinking more water than I thought I would be doing. I guess I am just worried that I am not writting everything down that I am eating and that I am going over the 20 net carbs. If I do go a little over does that for sure not allow me to get into ketosis? I am not eating any bread, pasta, startchy veggies or fruit. Mostly hard boiled eggs, baked chicken, salad, and tonight I had baked spag. squash with no sugar added pasta sauce with some ground beef because my family wanted regular spaghetti w/meat sauce and they ate it and liked it. Also, does it hurt if I drink hot tea and have a cup of coffee in the morning that isn't decaf? Thanks for the warm welcome

Hey there, welcome and good job on continuing! You might try tracking your carbs in fitday, it's really helpful to put your mind at rest if you are concerned about how many carbs you are eating.

Yes you can do this!!!! Make sure you read the book if you are not already. It is full of the info you will need to change your WOE
We follow the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition.
As for the water, most people say the mim of 64 oz is not enough. you should be drinking at least 1/2 you body weight in oz a day. It really does help.
As for counting your carbs, A great place to go to do that is Fitday.com you can set up a free acct and log everything you eat into it. Also body measurments so you can see your progress.
I am not really sure about the coffee. but I believe it should be decaf and if you drink 8 oz of coffee or anything besides water you should drink that much more water each day.. ex.. if you are drinking 130 oz of water a day and have a 8oz coffee.. you should drink at least 138 oz of water that day...
Oh.. and dont forget your veggies... they should be 12-15 net carbs a day and everything else should add up to your 20 net carbs. (this is were fitday really comes in handy) try to eat veggies with every meal.

Hope this helps and Good luck to you....

Thanks you ladies, I am heading over to fitday right now. I think I am only drinking about 2.2 liters of water so I better try to bump that up.

I know that I said somewhere that I am going to try to not get on the scales all of the time but my weight must really really fluctuate. Yesterday afternoon I weighed myself and I freaked out because the scales said 173 and on monday morning it said 170, well this morning the scales said 169.3. I am not sure if it is due to sodium or what. I think that I must make myself stay off the scales until lets say maybe next tuesday morning. I know that our weight will fluctuate but that seems like a major fluctuation.

I am a scale ADDICT... dont worry at all .. mine fluctuates as much as 5 lbs a day ... I try not to pay any attention to it but sometimes it is frustrating. I said on another post that I thought about taking them out with the garbage...

It just amazes me how much it can fluctuate like that!
During induction should I watch sodium intake? I am on day three and I am not really all that hungry and not craving anything, I think the hardest part for me in the past was passing on the drinks (beer or wine) that I would have with friends occasionally on the weekends. But I want to be thinner so bad, the thought of a drink makes me as long as I have my one cup of coffee in the am and my hot tea of the pm I will be fine. If I put my scales in the garbage I would SOOOO be digging them out!

I always watch sodium because it make you retain water...

As for the scales.. I would also be digging them out... That is why they are still sitting in the br..

My scale went out with the trash weeks ago. I only weigh at the gym once and a while. I don't like weighing in front of people so it keeps me away. I don't listen to the scale, it lies, my pants speak the truth!

                          goal weight 190, for now
I will see if I need a new goal after that one
                          25 pounds to go!
                          I love my water!

If you weigh yourself later in the day, you're also "weighing" all the food and liquid you've had for the day.

It's best to weigh yourself at the same time (most seem to pick morning since you have the least in your system).

Your weight can fluctuate about 3 pounds during the day.
