  • Need help starting strict induction over!!

Hello everybody this is my first time posting a question, any hoo, I've been on induction for about 3.5 weeks. I have been doing it right but I've been allowing myself to eat salad dressing with about 2 grams of sugar, and I've been eating losts of sugar free jello, and drinking lots of diet soad and snapple, I've lost some weight but not as much as I know I should, so my question is If I go really strict tommorrow will it take effect or should I just eat something illegal and start this whole diet over tommorrow?

Remember this is about getting over and breaking your sugar addiction, so don't cheat to start over tommorow, you are doing way better than you let on! I mean think about it its SALAD dressing

Just start tommorow sticking to the diet the way its supposed to be done, you can do it!

First of all, there's no need to start things over. IMO, the worst thing you could do is eat something illegal and then start over. Planning to cheat is planning to fail. Just start with your next bite and commit to cleaning up your menu.

How much do you weigh and how much do you need to lose? Perhaps you could plan on doing another few days of induction while you ditch the aspartame and caffeine, and then move on to OWL? Your body/sanity would probably appreciate a few more nutrients and you will continue to lose in OWL.

Re: Need help starting strict induction over!!

Don't eat/drink anything illegal. Just keep on going, but getting rid of all the things that you now know you should avoid. And even then, doublecheck what you are eating, plan ahead and make each day and meal count.

I screwed up a number of times during Induction, and even in OWL, which led to me falling of the wagon. This time, after lots more reading and learning here, I've learned to do it right.

While all those items might not be as bad as some other things you could have had, they can contains aspartame and other ingredients that might not be good for you, are known stallers, and can also keep the "sugar-craving" monster alive. I've found by avoiding all these things, I no longer crave or miss them.

You might also want to go ahead and start moving to OWL to give yourself more options and better nutrients. Atkins is really about OWL not Induction.

thanks for all the replies! I currently weight about 270 and I want to lose about 100 lbs. I don't mind doing strict atkins I was just concerned about my body going back into ketosis. If I go strict tommorrow (I can do really strict, I find I've lost the most weight in the past doing this) will my body jump start back into ketosis anytime soon? Thanks again for the advice and kind words : )

Re: Need help starting strict induction over!!

Seems like your sweetener intake is pretty high. You might see an increase in weight loss if you cut out all of the sweetened sodas and snapples and drink more water. Sweetener is limited to 3 servings per day, and Dr. Atkins warned us to stay away from aspartame as it causes stalls in weight loss for a lot of people.
