Hello guys, I'm a housewife, 22... I'm on my first day of Induction... I did this before without exercise and lost 9lbs. This time I am going to it with exercise and hopefully I will lose more weight. So anybody here who's starting the induction phase today? We can do induction phase together, you know support each other? I really wanna lose 40-50 lbs before October 2010 and I thought Atkins diet is the best option I have.

Welcome, enausense! Exercise will help you be healthier even if it doesn't accelerate your weight loss. I don't think it is a good idea to set weight loss deadlines. You might be disappointed. I hope this time you will make Atkins your woe and follow the maintenance phase after you reach goal. What Atkins book are you reading?Natalie

Re: Hi, I am new here and on Induction Phase
Right now, I don't have the Atkins book, but I read the information about Atkins in their website Atkins? - Official Site - is a powerful life-time approach to successful weight loss and weight management. all the phases, what are the foods to eat and not to eat... those stuffs you know. I also visit this site a lot and decided to join today... cause this time I am really motivated to do this, and of course with some support of members here. I know setting a deadline isn't really that good, but I think 5 months is good for 40 lbs to lose?

>>Right now, I don't have the Atkins book,>>
You really need the book.
>> read the information about Atkins in their website>>
That information is based on the 2010 book, A New Atkins for a New You. This forum relies on the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution.
Also, there are some errors on the Atkins.com website, and without being familiar with the plan, it's hard to know what those errors are! They don't have the Induction food list correct, for example.

Maybe.
It might take longer.
My trend line showed that I should have lost all my weight (50 pounds) in a year. It took 2.
How tall are you?J.

Did you know the information on the Atkins.com website is not all accurate? Didn't expect that, did you?
Why not buy the book, so that you have correct information? I saw some cheap copies online.

That would be 2 lbs every week. Hmm... I never lost that fast every week. Some weeks I lost nothing. I even have months with no weight loss! Who knows whether you will...Natalie

Yes, I read the information from atkins website, hm I look at their food list this earlier and ate 1 whole raw avocado, hopefully that didn't run my first day.

Nope, didn't know that. But I usually just eat romaine lettuce top with meat (slice of chicken, beef ) or eggs. I know it can be boring but I just drink lots of water before eating so I'll always feel full. I'll check out that atkins book in bookstore or walmart. Thanks for the info

Re: Hi, I am new here and on Induction Phase
That's not enough vegetables, nor is it proper nutrition. Eating close to 20 net carbs (total carbs minus dietary fiber) is more likely to give you proper nutrition, and over half of your daily net carbs should come from Induction vegetables.Originally posted by enausense View PostI usually just eat romaine lettuce"Get action. Re: Hi, I am new here and on Induction Phase
It surely didn't ruin it. Just keep avocado to 1/2 a small one per day from now on.I look at their food list this earlier and ate 1 whole raw avocado, hopefully that didn't run my first day.
Also, in the 2002 plan, avocado does not count as a vegetable."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Hi, I am new here and on Induction Phase
forget about the target weight loss and just go by how you look, and how clothes no longer fit due to being wayy too loose. It's not possible to lose more than 2.2 lbs of fat per week, and you don't want to starve and have your body eat your muscle. You also don't want to "Ride The Snake" ala Jim Carrey..google it..
