  • Yay! 7lbs lost in 4 days!

So I started the induction on the first and today is the forth and I have lost SEVEN pounds. I know it doesnt really have to do with water weight because I've always been a fish (drinking about 120 ounces a day).
The second day was rough. I went through a massive sugar withdrawal. The room was spinning, I was incredibly weak and nauseous. On top of that I hadn't slept for 48 hours straight. After that it's been smooth sailing except for the sugar craving here and there. My husband is a Mountain Dew fanatic and right now they just came out with three new flavors. So the house is littered with half empty bottles. And I love mountain dew **sniffle**

BUT being 100 pounds lighter would be soooo much BETTER than a bottle of mountain dew.

The only thing I have been doing different with the induction, which I guess would be considered cheating. Would be that I am eating Macadamia nuts for fiber. When ever I go to the store to buy RedMill's flaxseed. They are always out. And I cant take benefibre because of it's micro amount of gluten. So my endocrinologist recommended Macadamia nut. He also told me to do a fat fast first. But I decided to just try the induction first AND YAY!!! I guess I don't need the fat fast. Hmm. . but maybe in a way I am fat fasting because i eat alot of eggs and mayo, chicken salad with zucchini & broccoli, some Macadamia nuts and string cheese. But I rarely eat over 1500 calories a day, mostly it's less than that. Which I know is okay because I am super short.

Anywho . . thank you for listening to me ramble.

    7lbs down / 93lbs to go.

hi cassika!! good to have u on borad!!
7 lbs in 4 days?? that is one REMARKABLE progress!! superb!! i lost 7 in 18 days so i reckon the way ur going,ud have lost 20+ lbs by the time ur induction ends!! now isn't that motivation enuff??!! amazing!!
abt macadamia nuts, even i had them during induction because i had gotten bored of snacking on cheese & olives and luckily weight loss didn't stall or stop for me either but yes it was definitely slow
by the way, 1/2 cup macadamia i think equals to 10 gm of carbs, but does any one know how many pieces of macadamias that makes??
happy low carbing & congratulations once again!!

According to fitday.com which gets its info from the USDA database

One ounce of macadamia nuts has about 11 kernels in it - and that is the serving we should add on OWL as Dr Atkins told us to count one ounce of most nuts (1/2 ounce of cashew nuts) as being our addition, not the whole 5 net carbs count.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

What a great start to your Atkins journey

Are you also eating your 2 cups from the 'salad vegetable' list in addition to your one cup from the 'other vegetable' list which includes your brocolli and zucchini? That could add some fibre to your food intake.
Remember we are supposed to get 'most' of our carbs on induction from our vegetables rather than from mayo (0.2 per tablespoon for Hellmans) eggs (0.4 for one large egg) and cheese (count 1 carb per ounce) - and nuts (count 5 net carbs per ounce on OWL)

Wow that is an amazing start! Imagine what the loss would be without the macadamia's??? Lol. Okay sorry, had to throw that in. You're doing great and it sounds like you're educated on the plan which is a huge part of the battle. Keep it going!!!

Re: Yay! 7lbs lost in 4 days!

I do eat veggies but we were waiting for pay day for salad veggies. My husband and I ended up contracting E coli from the romaine lettuce we bought so we threw it out. Took only two days for me to recover but my husband is still sick but getting better. I stayed on the diet even through that **** and I'm really proud of my self because I used to only stick to a diet for 2 days. So Romaine aside. . I just cant stomach iceberg lettuce because it tastes like chemicals to me.
The reason I was eating alot of mayo and macadamia nuts is because my Endo wanted me to do the fat fast. I just kept it in my diet. It works REALLY really well for me. I am no longer eating macadamia nuts anymore because I got tired of them. I've lost 13 pounds now. I'm soooo excited.
And I dont consider myself to exercise. But I do walk to get gorceries every other day and thats about a mile away. Actually we walk everywhere instead of using our car. So I suppose that counts, that and chasing a toddler around. I've been cleaning the past few days trying to dig out my recumbent bike because I have soooo much energy!

I guess I'm not as metabolically resistant as my doctor told me. Proof people with Thyroid problem can loose weight on a diet!!!

Wow! That is so encouraging to hear! Great job! I hear ya on the extra energy thing. When I go to exercise now I have to do more speed work on the treadmill (running) because I have almost hyper energy now to burn off and my performance has skyrocketed - no more sluggishness or tiredness and I have a 4 yr old to run after too lol. I got my treadmill back out again so I can walk or run whenever I want or can't get to the gym. Amazing stuff. I am so excited to hear you're doing so well! YIPEE!!!! 13lbs. wow! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
