  • How often do you weigh?

I just wrapped day 5 of induction and plan to weigh for the first time in the morning because I usually weigh on fridays. I am nervous that I am not in Ketosis because I feel totally normal, if anything kinda fatter from all the yummy oil and stuff. No induction flu at all. I've been less hungry than ever between meals--not snacking or getting really hungry between meals (I'm usually hungry 24/7)

Sorry for rambling, my point is how do you know if you're in ketosis? Do you really weigh every day?

    No bad breath either.

Don't worry it's for me, not you.

Not everyone experiences bad symptoms from going into ketosis - it could be that all you will get is the loss of appetite benefit (if you are one of the lucky ones ) rather than the feeling tired, weird breath etc that some people suffer.

If you are worried that your menus might be suspect you can post a few days worth (with quantities) in our 'review my menu' forum for others to cast an eye over.

As for weighing - some people weigh more often than once a week, others less - just make sure you weigh and measure at the end of your 14 days induction so you can take a look at the chart in DANDR to see what your metabolic resistance to weightloss is.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Weighing every day does not tell you whether or not you're in ketosis. You can be in ketosis and lose no weight... or even gain.

What would make you gain weight during induction? I walked 3 times this past week, drank a gallon of water, and had gained 2lbs today...

Water retention (more sodium, TOM, etc.), for example.

          had gained 2lbs today...
Relax, you didn't gain 2 lbs of fat overnight. Daily weight fluctuations are normal... and those 2 lbs will probably leave as fast as they came.

I weigh every day but only really note the weekly changes. Day to day can fluctuate so much, so once a week is a better data point for long term trends.

Right--this is me too. While I track the changes in FitdayPC, I don't count them as met until I meet my goal and stay there for more than 3-5 days.

I weight every day because I am still on some diuretics, which I am slowly weaning myself off of. (sorry ~ tmi) and replacing with L-Taurine

Re: How often do you weigh?

Hi everyone thanks for chiming in. I went for it and it was 164.8 from 166(last friday, which counts as my pre-induction weight) . Only a pound and change but that was only 5 days of induction and I may have messed up the first day or two a little. I'm just relieved I haven't gained! all the butter and oil, I was really having to fight the guilt!

Can't wait to see what happens next week-though maybe next week i will wait and not weight until day 15 which would be next monday instead of friday : )

Don't worry it's for me, not you.

I try to wait till the end of the week because it makes it more exciting! I find if I weight myself everyday it becomes a little bit of an obsession.

I weigh every day in hopes of the scale going down, but I get upset when it goes up, or down only a little. I know it is better to weigh once a week, but I am always worried that if I don't keep an eye on it, it could really go up! Just call me paranoid....

Im the same way! I HAVE to weigh everyday. I want to scale go down, but it can also sabotage me.
