  • good substitute for wine in recipes?

    A little white vinegar?
    Chicken broth?
    More butter? LOL

Don't worry it's for me, not you.

I've read that broth (chicken or beef) and vinegar can be used as substitutes.

Are you trying to change a particular recipe?

It depends on the recipe. This link to vegetarian times has a red wine substitute all the way at the bottom : Ingredient Substitution Guide

however, rather than using the balsamic vinegar (because balsamic isn't allowed on Atkins due to the sugar content), you may substitute rew wine vinegar instead.

For white wine sub, I would follow use either white wine vinegar or a sherry vinegar.

Make sure you read the ingredients. The flavored butters I've seen in Germany usually are more than just, for example, garlic and butter.
