I am on day 11 of induction....NO WEIGHT lost....no inches lost. Ketosis sticks have read light to medium purple. Drinking almost a gallon of water per day, exercising (have been for YEARS, so I'm not gaining muscle). Less than 20 carbs per day. HELP The only thing I can even come up with is to cut calories???? I don't eat full meals, I snack on meat and chicken (SMALL amount of cheese), salami and pepperoni through the day. Sometimes add a cup or two of lettuce in my day. I am most discouraged.

Re: Help
It sounds like you aren't getting the required amount of vegetables (3 cups). You need to get 2 cups from the Salad Vegetables list, and 1 cup from the Other Vegetables list...or all 3 cups from the Salad Vegetables list. Mind posting a full menu (including amounts) of everything you ate and drank yesterday?

Re: Help
Snacking on processed meat with some cheese added and keeping carb under 20 is not necessarily Atkins. You would probably be eating a lot of sugars that way as processsed meats do contain them and that may not be helping you. You are not getting the healthy fat you need that way
Just having some lettuce is not giving you nutrients enough to lose weight.
You need to follow the book (to a T) and be strickt.
So find out what the rules are

Re: Help
Thanks for everyone's input! There is no sugar in the meat that I have been eating (according to the labels). Also, I have not been adding a lot of veggies. I will do that this week and see if it does the trick.
What I eat:
1 hard boiled egg for breakfast
1 egg three pieces of bacon for lunch
snack on some salami, roast beef or pepperoni
6 ounce steak and 2 cups of lettuce with blue cheese dressing for dinner
snack on some salami, roast beef or pepperoni
Total calories are around 1200 to 1500 (depending on the times when I add in 4 to 6 ounces of cheese or add a few more pieces of bacon).
I drink 1 gallon of water per day (about half is mixed with no sugar koolaid with 1/2 the splenda reccommended)
According to the packaging, none of the food I am eating has any sugar.
I work out cardio 1.5 to 2 hours per day 6 days a week
I do light weights high reps 3 days a week
Thank you again, I hope you can see more "glitches" to help. I'm really commited to this.

Re: Help
Do you know all the different forms of sugar. Do not read just the label. Read the list of ingredients and check for stuff that is starch or syrup or end with -ose. Pepperoni almost always have dextrose. I am willing to bet my hat yours does too
Also
You need to eat 3 cups of veggies and get most of your daily carbs from vegetables. Most of your daily carbs comes from pepperoni and cheese - this is wrong
And eat a bit more for your breakfast and lunch. Eat whole foods and maybe that will eliminate your need to snack so much on salty stuff.
Cheese is limited to 3-4 oz and that is really as much as you should have.
Cut out cool aid this moment. We should not drink sweetned chemical water. We should drink real water. If you consume that much sweetener in addition to the sweeteners in your salami and pepperoni . it will not work.
Glad you are committed. It will work -just take some time to read the rules and read labels and list of ingredients on all your foods.

Re: Help
What do you mean the drink list is accurate?
I am suggesting that if you are not losing it is because you are drinking too much sweetener - just make your insulin store fat rather than get rid of it. And you want to get rid of it I think

Re: Help
I misunderstood. I thought that one half a gallon of regular water and another half of a gallon of the unsweet koolaid with 1/2 splenda was good. NO????? Please tell me what to drink. I will do whatever it takes! I only have around 10 pounds to lose. I am competing in the Mrs. Virginia pageant on June 5th and want to look my best for the swimsuit segment. THANKS!!!!! (and thank you for being so prompt)

Re: Help
A pageant girl - how sweet
So I am just guessing that you are sort of already in the healthy range of weight and in that case losing will not be super quick. The quick losses you hear about on Atkins is for people who have a lot to lose and they (we) will also drop a lot of water weight in the beginning because we were eating so many carbs. It is less than one month to your pageant. I am just saying that so that you do not expect Atkins to be some kind of quick fix for a few pounds or trouble areas you may have. But do eat lots of veggies and drink pure clean water without sweetener and if you have something to lose it will come off.
I hope it works for you.

Re: Help
My girlfriend did atkins and loved it. I had my gall bladder removed a few months ago and gained some weight. I need to stay away from the higher carb foods and thought that doing atkins would A) help me drop a few pageant pounds and B) get me into a healthier way of eating by controlling my food intake one phase at a time. I want this as a lifetime change to help my body for the future, not just for next month. However, dropping a few pounds now would REALLY be nice (I am technically ready to go, I just wanted to lean up a bit). I refuse to give myself an eating disorder for a pageant, lol. I wanted to start on better eating habits.....Atkins here I am!!

Re: Help
I feel your pain! I just hit a week and lost a whopping pound! It was 3 pounds at first, but it fluctuated back up this morning, to my dismay!
I have already lost 50 pounds on another diet (Medifast) and just need to lose the last 10-15 to get to my goal. I am wondering if it is going slow because I already lost so much. It is easy to get discouraged.... but we need to stay positive and on track!

Re: Help
Yep. Since you are close to your goal weight, weight loss will be slower.Originally posted by AuroraLaura View PostI am wondering if it is going slow because I already lost so much.
Also, since you did Medifast right before Atkins, you have no/little water weight to lose... so you probably won't see a big drop on the scale in the first week or two, as others do when they come to Atkins straight from a high carb diet."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Help
Congrats on your weightloss!!!!! Liv, the mod, has been very helpful in explaining that losing an unwanted 10 pounds is very different than starting out fresh on this plan. He basically explained to me that weightloss that people report is from people who had more to lose to begin with. Good luck to you! I am now taking out processed meat and only doing water to make sure that even trace amounts of sweetener can't stop me. (another Liv piece of advice). Feel free to keep in contact with me! Thank you for replying.
