  • Back on induction

It's been a while since I've posted here, but still working the diet plan.

I had really great success during the induction. Towards the end, my weight was stable at 214.

When I switched to owl, I wanted to play it safe, and just ate 4 cups of induction approved veggies, instead of 3.

    I gained 3 pounds.

I traced back, and realized I made a few mistakes, mostly when eating out.

I ordered a Wendy's burger, and threw away the bun, but I still ate the ketchup and mustard that was on it. I had no idea that ketchup was so full of sugar, and carbs, until I looked it up later.

I also ordered a smoked chicken, and split it with my family. The skin was really tasty, and then I noticed it was covered in a bar-B-Q sauce.

I started being real careful, and trying to eat all my meals at home, and got back down to 214. But that was as low as I could get.

I tried increasing my exercise, cut out the cheese, salad dressing, and even started skipping breakfast. But I just wasn't loosing.

So, I went back to 3 cups of veggies, per day, and started loosing again.

I'm down to 210 now, and feeling good.

Just wondering, how long can a person stay on induction?

    Re: Back on induction

You can stay in induction for a while. I think the book mentions 6 months.
I am not sure that it is a good idea for everyone and it is not the best way to lose all your weight. You do want to try out carbs and figure out hwo you react to them so that you know how to eat sustainable.

Vegetables are really safe and adding one cup like that should not make much of a difference at all unless you are very sensitive to carbs but I bet you are not. I think there probably was other factor going on. One such factor is that we usually do see a stall after induction that we call Post Induction Stall Syndrome - about everyone see it and just continuing is very important.
So I would give those veggies another try. It is not really a cup addition on OWL it is 5 carb addition. On OWL we start seriously to think about 5 carb increments.
Anyways glad you are losing again
