Oatmeal and cereals are not acceptable on Induction.

There are some recipes around for using ground linseed (flax) as a cereal-type dish.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Yes, flax (linseed in UK) is mainly available from health food shops over here this side of the pond, though I think it is more widely available in USA supermarkets. Best to buy it as seeds and grind it yourself as it can go rancid if not refrigerated once ground.

Here is one flax cereal recipe I found on a quick forum search

Another thing you could try is making flax crackers then crumbling them up to make a sort of cereal
            Flax Crackers
Mix equal amounts (in volume) of water and ground flax and let sit for a while to thicken up
Drop spoonfuls onto a parchment sheet or silicone tray and press out to required thickness with the back of the spoon
Microwave or oven-bake till firm and crisp

Here is another good thread to get ideas from - it has the 'mock danish' which many people like as a sweet 'treat' as well as the revolution roll recipe which can be used without sweetener to make buns and bread/wraps etc as well as some other good induction-legal recipes

Re: Jj61 - low carb cereal??

Feeling sluggish on the 4th day is pretty common. It's usually where the turning point seems to be for many people, and from here on you will probably feel much better.

Make sure you eat enough food. Atkins isn't about severely restricting calories.

As for constipation... are you eating all your vegetables and eating enough fat?

How much water are you drinking?

                    Exercise helps, too.

Re: Jj61 - low carb cereal??

Okay... if you have an addiction to sweets, then I would not recommend a sweet breakfast. Having something sweet for breakfast would only feed your addiction. From what I've seen around forums, that doesn't help people in the long term.

Have a salad for breakfast... or soup... or anything else on the acceptable foods list that isn't sweet. You don't have to have eggs.

Re: Jj61 - low carb cereal??

Although cereal is a common breakfast it is probably one of the worst breakfasts to have and do little to give you energy or keep you full until lunch.

Constipation is common with some during Induction. Are you eating a wide variety of veggies...ones with more fiber and not just mostly lettuce? That is very helpful.

You may want to explore some other breakfasts. Any acceptable food can be eaten for breakfast. One of my favorites is a grilled pork chop with a side of mashed pumpkin (with butter and a dash of cinnamon).

If you want to try the flax, remember that it is flax meal (ground flax seeds) that is used. Many find the golden flaxmeal to have a milder flavor.

Here is a hot flaxmeal cereal thread. I've tried it and found the suggestion further in the thread for more water in the recipe to be good.

I'll ask this here instead of starting a new thread. How long does store-bought flax meal last in the refrigerator? I bought some maybe a little over a week ago and put it in an airtight container and stuck it in the fridge. It's not that expensive, but the only kind the stores around me have is in a decent sized bag. I don't want to waste it.
