Is Kikkoman brand soy sauce a go or a no go while on Induction? It states that there is wheat along with soy & of course salt. Is the wheat going to be a problem? ensive

i asked the same question about a month ago. one of my carb counter books states it doesn't have any carbs at all. a kindly forum monitor responded that soy sauce is one of those foods that hasn't been clearly defined by Atkins as a definate yes or a no. i think you can count it as spice or garnish, and use it sparingly.

Although perhaps using just a splash wouldnt do too much damage - as it does contain ingredients that are not 'legal' till the grain and legume rungs of OWL why not give yourself the best chance of success with your induction and do your first 14 days without it? :hug

Considering how critical Induction is - if there's even the smallest question as to whether or not a food has the potential to undermine your success - why take the chance?
Induction is much more than a two week (for some of us longer) period to drop some weight. It's the very heart of the Atkins way of life.
It's during this time that our body goes through profound changes not the least of which is going from a fat storing machine to a fat burning one.
My advice?
Stick to the plan, don't deviate in the slightest and if there's even the slightest shadow of doubt just say no.

I agree whole heartadly Peter & Elizellen. I have done Induction before & followed the rules very closely & even though I know what is and what is not allowed.....it must be some some rebellious streak that looms in me to ask" Well what about this or that food?" knowing full well that if I don't see it on the list of acceptable foods - then it's not on the list for a reason.
I am hoping to make up some beef jerky if I can find a recipe that doesn't use soy sauce - which is how I learned to make it.
By the way, I'm on day one of my 2nd round of clean Induction (after getting away from Atkins and more on a watered down version of low carb).
Also worth noting - I have gone cold turkey on caffeine & so far - no dreaded headaches or "Induction flu" . I wasn't a big coffee/caffeine drinker to begin so no big loss for me anyways, but I want to do Induction correctly - get my good habits off to the right start!

Try going to an asian market to find soy sauce. In the market we have here, they offer almost 15 different brands of the sauce - and there are two that are 100% soy with no wheat or anything else induction illegal. The brand I use is - "Finq-an natural soy sauce." On the ingredients label - Soy, Salt, Olive Oil - that's it. It is yummy! :yes

Yummy - but not legal ingredients on induction if you are aiming at a 'clean' induction i am afraid :hug

As I read it, as long as it has been made from soy protein and not soy flour or beans and contains no sugar or 'caramel colouring' it wuld be OK - but I don't know how you would know which soy product it had been made of ensive
