    Help!

I'm on Day 6 of Induction and I'm having a little trouble with a few things. Firstly, I think I'm eating too much cheese and it may be slowing down my weight loss. Exactly how much is 3-4 oz. would that be about 3-4 slices? Second, I'm having a crazy craving for something sweet. I just finished lunch and it's taking all of me just to resist binging on some type of carb! Any suggestions? And lastly, I keep wanting to switch diets after a few days of being on one, but I'm determined to stick to this way of life - I just don't know how I can keep myself motivated. I would love to hear from anyone who has had success and who believes strongly in this WOL. There's just so much controversy and I guess I keep second guessing myself and my decision to do this diet over doing something more low-calorie or low-fat. Thanks for your help!

    One slice = 1 ounce.

Avoid sweets if you can. They only serve to feed the cravings which will make them worse in the end.

I had a lot of doubt when I first started this WOE, I was sure I would keel over from a heart attack or stroke at any moment. And then I realized I felt good. The cronic pain and lack of energy I was suffering from was gone. I was no longer driven by food and I could say no whenever I felt like it. Once I got to that point this WOE got a lot easier for me. Stick it out. Like Dr. A said give it two full weeks then decide if you wish to continue.

      Hi.

You have to look at your package if you are getting the packaged pre-sliced cheese. The nutritional info box will list the serving size and the weight of that serving.

If you are buying your slices from a deli, you'll have to weigh the slices yourself. You can purchase a diet scale for less than $20 at Walmart, Target etc.

      Cravings...
Make sure whatever you had for lunch did not contain added sugars. Secondly, make sure that you ate a combination of fats, proteins and carbs. For example if you had a big lettuce salad for lunch with a tablespoon spoon of dressing, that meal was a high carb one and could destabilize your blood sugar/insulin response causing cravings.

As for sticking on a diet, that's really something you have to look within yourself to do. There is no magic bit of advice for that. You have to want to follow through. You have to want to make it work---sort of like anything else in life.

When I decided to do Atkins, I committed myself to do the 14 day Induction strictly by the book: no modifications, no excuses. I reasoned I owed it to myself to give it my all and do it correctly. A half-assed job give half-assed results, in my experience.

        Thank you both!

Your responses were very helpful. I will stick to this for the full 2 weeks and try not to second guess myself in the meantime. Here is what I eat in a day on this WOE:

        B: 2 eggs, 2 ounce cheese

S1: Turkey deli slices and mayo

L: Salad made with romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, red pepper, montery jack cheese (1/2 cup shredded) and Ranch dressing OR Chicken Caesar salad

        S2: Veggies and dip

D: Chicken and vegetable stir-fry OR salmon and veggies

How does this look? I haven't really weighed myself yet but I think my clothes are a little looser, I would like to lose about 30 lbs overall. I agree that I need to commit wholeheartedly to this if I want the results. Thank you for your quick responses. Have a great day!
