Hi everyone! I am new here today. I started atkins today and am feeling very tired. Is this normal? I have read the book and am pretty excited about this.

This is normal and some of us get what you call induction flu. This can cause headaches cold sweats and just feeling like you have the flu. If you experience this don't worry it WILL go away in 3-4 days and you will get your energy back when your body begins ketosis. Always refer to the book, use your tape measure more than your scale and if you need encouragement or feel like you wnat to cheat or have questions you are at the right place. We are all in the same boat as you and everyone here has been very helpful.Good luck on a clean induction. Oh and don't weigh till your induction is over. It may keep you from getting discouraged because it is normal to lose the first week and not a lot or at all the next. Save that scale for the end of induction. keep goingPam

welcome whippet! I'm glad you found this wonderful forum.
There may very well be some temporary physical symptoms as your body makes the change from burning the carbage you have been giving it, to burning your fat stores instead.
But these symptoms usually do not last. I myself had a froggie in the throat for awhile, but now it is long gone.
Make sure you read the 2002 DANDR so that you can understand the science behind your physical changes and have patience with the Atkins process. You won't believe how less tired you will feel once your system is free to function as it was meant to function before over-processed food came along.
