Try not to think about what you can't have..but what you can. Go thru the recipes section of this site (it's above beside the chat link) go thru the recipes sections of the board as well. Another great site for recipes is http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/recipes.html, she marks all her induction friendly recipes with a * and has some wonderful recipes!
I really believe that when you start experimenting with legal foods and cooking things you never would have made before gives you such a variety and is so much fun you'll barely even miss the foods you can't have. Ikeep finding so many recipes I have a hard time keeping track of all of them. and I used to hate vegetables now they are part of almost every meal and I have so much fun finding new ways to cook them.
Also remember once you get to OWL you will be albe to add back some food groups gradually, and that expands your menu even more. It's worth teh effort and the wait!
Well said sadie !! :ThumbsUp
I also try to think of all those foods not as stuff that I loved so much or that I am not allowed, but refer to them as food I CHOSE not to eat.
It seems such a small difference, just a word, but it really works.
I was actually checking the little bitty carb list on the front cover inside the book.. I was looking for cucumbers.. then just kept cruising the list.. and lo and behold... see APPLE Pie!! I keep going down..... and I'm really appalled at myself for loving so much JUNK that was so bad for me.. :anger
Are you sure those are really your favorites? I used to think the high carb foods were my favorites. But then I stuck to this WOE for a couple of months and I realized there is a HUGE difference between being addicted to a food and really truly liking it.
Once my taste buds healed from the carbage overload, I found my toungue and mouth became far more discriminating about the foods
they like.
Now, I can truly say I would prefer a nutritious, rich, smoky, succulent salmon over a sugary nightmare like a donut.
Now I crave vegetables and wholesome food. Now I prefer my food to come unpackaged. I'm not denying myself anything. I'm giving myself permission to have what I really want.
I think that is a key for making Atkins a permanent lifestyle.

I'm pretty sure apple and pecan pie are on my list .. I'll always love..
but I'm sure that later on.. I'll be able to incorporate some apples... even some baked apple recipes in my plan......I'll bet there's some apple recipes somewhere...
but that will be later... .. hopefully not forever.. but later...
95% of your favorite foods made you fat. So you have to think, do they really deserve your love for making you fat? Or should you start loving foods that will make you thin?
