  • Worked so hard, and now dissapointed

i tried my absolute hardest. :anger Today marks my 9th day of induction, but I failed to read the book, and now I've come to realize aspartame is not allowed in this diet (no wonder this was so easy for me) I was drinking caffine free diet soda, Wal-Mart water, and Crystal Lite, all because it has no carbs. I am so discouraged, can someone tell me how this will affect my progress?

Aspartame is a known weight staller - so now you know to avoid it.

Get the book. Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition. This tells you HOW this way of eating works, and more importantly WHY this way of eating works. It's the users guide to the whole thing and without it you will fail.

You can buy it online really cheap at amazon.com.

I want to see you achieving your goal and I want to know that your eating healthy and having the manual to this way of life and sticking with it will guarantee success. :hug

I think it depends on the person somewhat. When I first started I misplaced my book and knew the basics so I winged it. Idrank diet cokes most of the time and it didn't affect me I still lost a lot of weight but I have since stopped and by the time I get my 96 ounces of water a day I don't want anything else. If I do I go right past the Diet rite cokes(which don't have aspartame) and grab my water. I think those cokes have been in the fridge for 2 months now! Don't sweat it. Now you know! Just keep going.

you are doing fine. If you are one of the25% of the population that contacted Dr Atkins about weight loss problems dealing with diet sodas sweetened with aspartame then you will have a slower weight loss then you would have if you hadn't drunk them. if not you will be losing just fine.

your real problem is you are not killing your sweet tooth by having all those sweet drinks. the daily limit on any sweetener is 3 servings a day based on manufactureres serving size and if you had it all as soda that would be 24 ounces or 2 cans a day.

So what do you do now you continue doing your atkins and you clean up your act and get control of the sweets by following the rules and on day 15 you decide based on your answers to the questions in chapter 13 of your DANDR if you will do a longer induction or move to OWL

        Happy low carbing.

don't be discouraged - be encouraged

you get lots of credit for trying your absolute hardest island. :nod
give yourself a big hug for doing as well as you did.

i'd be lost without the book. Seems to me you still made some excellent strides towards your goal.
