  • day 3 and had to go to a lunch for work - chinese - HELP!

i just posted how well iw as doing and i had to go to this lunch, by this time i am starving but i tried to be really careful, can someone rate this for me?? and tell me if i am totally hosed or not??

    - water to drink - 20oz
    - chicken on a stick, baked chicken, no sauce, slight teriyaki seasoning
    - grilled chicken with onions and peppers, small amount of soy sauce
    - grilled chicken and mushrooms - no real sauce, scraped alot of the little there was off
    - small amount of pepper sterak, scraped the little bit of sauce off??

this is what is so hard for me, i HAVE to go to these lunches alot, others places i would have gotten wings and a salad or something, but i had to go to this today.

for dinner i will eat 2 eggs only and i will have drunk 80+ oz's of water today and i will do my 30-45 min walk too.

i don't feel bad or bloated or tired but i know there are hidden things in there.

    crap

Hard to say with Chinese food. The meats are typically soaked in a sugar-based marinade. The sauces are laced with sugar and starches. The best option is plain steamed meat and steamed vegetables, no sauce.

Next time call ahead to the restaurant and ask them if they have any foods that do not contain added sugars, grains, starches, etc.

The other alternative is to bring a lunch and eat before you go. That will reduce the chances of you having to eat something not Atkins compatible. You can sip decaf tea or coffee during the meal.

No, you don't "start again". You pick up where you left off. If this is Day 3 then tomorrow will be Day 4.

Use this as a learning experience and carry on. Make sure your next meal is an Atkins meal.

        No need to "start over".

man i could just kick my own ***

i def feel a little lethargic right now, can TELL there was sugar in that stuff

          NEVER again

you would think some chinese would be ok with all the chicken and veggies

Have a proper meal with some veggies unless you are not hungry and dont want to eat much.

A big part of Atkins is getting used to coping with 'eating in the real world' and we all struggle at first. As 2big said - just carry on and think of what happened as a learning experience and try to work out what you will do different next time.

Someone on this board had a good phrase 'Failing to plan is planning to fail' so until this WOE is second nature you need to be aware of what might go wrong and plan how you will cope with situations like the one you were in. :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

              thanks all

i feel a little better and it is def better for me to lok at it as day 4 and not starting over

thats what threw me last time on atkins, for my job i eat out alot, and i am travelling alot, and atkins requires alot of prep work, planning, cooking, packing etc

not that that is a bad thing but i think someone would make a fortune if they set up fast food akins places

It takes a bit of work, but you can cobbled together an Atkins meal at almost any restaurant. Just stick to the basics: order broiled or grilled meats. Avoid sauces and gravies---unless the waiter tells you there is absolutely no added sugars or starches in them. Order steammed vegetables and/or salad. Use butter for your veggies. Use oil and vinegar dressings for your salad.

We go to an Italian restaurant once a month. I order the grilled meats, a steammed or sauteed vegetable and maybe a small salad.
