Whats the deal with olives and avocados? I know we're allowed a half a small avocado (or some olives, which I never liked anyways), but I'm wondering, does that count towards our 1-cup salad veggie total, just to be conservative? That's what I've been doing, but that cuts down my tomato ration :sadblinky

So what do do. Any thoughts are welcome.

DANDR 2002 is vague about this. In fact, it's so vague it doesn't even mention it!

When I was on Induction, I didn't count olives towards my veggie limit. However, I also didn't use the counts in the Atkins book or the other various carb counters. I followed the carb count on the jar (can). For the olives I was eating 1 or 2 olives was 1 net carb. So that helped put a limit on them for me.

As for avocado, I ate it only once in a while. Again, I didn't count it towards the veggie total because I didn't eat it frequently enough.

I agree, it's not clear. I interpreted it to be along with. I also found that I never went over 20 net carbs either eating all my veggies faithfully. I continue to eat both olives and avocado regularly as they do not mess me up. They're great ways to get in a healthy fatty snack.

if you can handle them with your metabolism they are an and food. you eat your veggies and them counting all your carbs. Some folk can't eat the special catagory foods at all even if they included them in their veggies.
