Personally, I think you did ok. At any rate, get the plain ones next time and you can please even the strictest Atkinsers except those who think you should be doing this low fat too! I used them alot before, and they do taste good, especially with ATKINS FRIENDLY LO CARB TACO SEASONED meat, cheddar, diced tomato (legal amount of course), and a diced sliver of onion. If your dairy tolerant, then just a dab of NON LO FAT sour cream...(just a dab, I KNOW it has some carbs people, but you are allowed up to 20 a day, and I used fitday....just to defuse any potential bombs.) :yes And I continued to lose weight, which is a pretty good sign its ok.

They are for the most part tasteless to me. I'm not into them plain yet but I have tried the Mock Cinnamon Toast Crunch recipe posted on here and was waaaaay happy as it felt like I was cheating! :joy

Pork rinds (the ones I've eaten) are crunchy, and are best with at least some salt/seasoning on 'em. I actually love them and back when I was obsessed with low-fat foods, I could basically never eat them. As long as they have no added sugar (gotta be careful with that, as my experience shows) they are no-limit, Induction-friendly Atkins food. :nod

I hated pork rinds as a kid, just by the smell of them, but now that im older i like them, but it is tough to not over eat them, especially the salt and vinegar ones, so I was advised limit to them to a cup a day, I thought that was very good advice, because they are very addicting. You can eat too much a of good thing, I have discovered. Sometimes, in a rush, I go to a grocery store pick up several items, then get home later, and find a ingredient that i overlooked, but it has caused me to study the ingredients more, especially if you use fitday.com. It helps you really be take a closer look at the ingredients of a item.

I just got some good advice from another low-carb web forum. I was asking about the pork rinds, and talked about how I used to love to gobble chips (Doritos, Fritos, etc). Someone said, "if chips were your problem, and you're doing this to get some new habits, why don't you stay away from the pork rinds for now?"

I actually hadn't thought of it that way before. I think I'm going to stay away from the pork rinds for now.

Had a chicken salad today for lunch - chicken, diced celery and pickle, mayo, some minced garlic, a little salt. Some sardines on the side. MMMMM.

Don't know what I'll have for dinner yet. Already have the salad planned out though - a nice tomato, mozarella, olive oil and fresh basil, with a cup of greens on the side.

Day eight, here we come..... :yes

                Pork Skins

We have the sour cream and onion ones around here and they are great for a change.

What do pork skins taste like...well...to me they are more the flavor of ham I think. They are very crunchy and this is good if you need something to satisfy that "munchomg" craving. I try to use them for my between meal snack.

I don't miss chips at all, never really liked them anyway, what I do miss is cereal. I know this sounds odd, but someone mentioned this on this board, and it rocks! I crush up pork rinds into bite sized pieces, add a little cream, enough water to make the cream like milk, then add some cinnamon and splenda, Voila a great bowl of cereal. I kid you not!

I crush them and use them to bread chicken tenders. Drop them in an egg bath and then lay them in a dish with the crushed rinds- I usually pack it on pretty thick. Fry in vegie oil and dust with salt and pepper. It is fantastic!!!!
