  • Looking for an Induction buddy

Anyone want to buddy up with me during induction? I had originally started induction a week ago and lasted 6 days (and I was even starting to feel so much better and slimmer) but then I fell off the wagon and ate REALLY badly for 2 days! I'm starting clean today and am looking for a partner or two to join me for support. We could post our menus and help each other get through the nasty cravings. Any takers?

Today is the beginning of my NEW, HEALTHY life!

      Hi Karen,

I will be your buddy if you are still looking. I am on the second week od induction, I did well on the first week losing 9 pounds, so I await to see what the second week brings. This is my second attempt at atkins. My first attempt was last year, I lost a lot of weight then christmas came, death in the family, end of a relationship push me right back to high carbs. I am now restarting and learning not to comfort eat.

Having a buddy for encouragement will be great.

        Hi Nikki and Tianna!!

I'm so happy to hear that you want to do this together! I'm certain we'll succeed especially with the extra support. So should we make our first goal to do a clean induction for the full two weeks? I know both of you have already started but we can just cheer each other on and get through this together. What are your weight goals? I would ideally like to be 130lbs (I'm 5'6"), I figure I can reasonably make that in about 3-4 months. Do you want to make a mini-goal to start with? Here are my starting goals: 1. To do a clean induction, 2. To exercise at least 5 times a week, 3. To drink LOTS of water and 4. To reach 145 lbs by June 1st. Also do we want to have a weekly weigh-in to keep us motivated? Let me know what you think.

Here's my menu for the day:

        B: 2 eggs and 1 oz cheese
        S: Turkey and mayo
L: Salad (lettuce, tomato, avocado, red peppers), 2oz cheese, chicken, ranch dressing
        D: Chicken caesar salad

Hope you ladies have a fantastic day! We can do this!!!

          Hi Karen,

You are so right we can DO THIS!!!. One thing to remember for me is to see this as not a diet but a new way of eating for life. Iam 5"3, my weight at start was 182 pounds and my target is 112 pounds. I have a long way to go and intend to take this one day at a time. So I think it will take me about a year to lose all those 70 pounds. A mini goal is a very good idea, for me it would be losing a stone by end of May. Exercise 4 times a week - this has been difficult to make myself excercise. Yes - drinking plenty of water - not so difficult. I am definately up for a weekly weigh in, count me in :joy .

          My menu:

B: 2 sausages (Marks & Spencer pork sausages: 0.8 carb), egg, bacon
L: 2 Chicken drumsticks & Salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, celery), 1tblsp mayo.
D: bacon omelete + steamed broccoli

          What do you think?

Hi Tianna (and anyone else reading)!

Your menu looks great! How are you doing so far? I have to admitt I've been having a very hard time sticking to the diet lately. I keep telling myself, I'll start again tomorrow, but then tomorrow comes and I eat really badly. I really want to reach my goal for this month and I know the only way to do it is to stick to the program...NO EXCUSES! So I'm still hanging in here trying to stay positive and especially trying to stop my late night eating binges...

Hope things are going well for you! What day do you want to weigh in?

            Have a great weekend!

                Induction Buddy

Hello all...I am starting induction on Sunday, May 1st. I did this diet after the birth of my daughter (15 years ago when it was unheard of) and lost 65 pounds. I usually do induction about once a year and the time has arrived.

                  Hi Nikki!

You look like you're doing awesome! I like your dinner I think I'm gonna try that it sounds so tasty! That's amazing that you've managed to get all that water down...I have a hard time with it myself some days. What are your goals and what day should we weigh in?

                  Welcome aboard, apugh77!

Good to hear you've had some great success with Atkins maybe you can help guide us where we need a veteran's advice!

As for me, I've been struggling lately and I've actually cheated over the past two days...I really realize how much of an emotional eater I am, it's scary! BUT I'm starting over fresh tomorrow - NO CHEATING and I'm planning on doing the induction for at least 3 weeks maybe 4. I'm going to San Fran on July 2nd so I plan to reach my goal by then and be super fit!

We will do this for sure, I have so much faith in the program and in us!!

                  Happy low-carbing!

                    Hi Ren!
Yes, you should try that dinner it is supper yummy and sooo filling. I have also heard to try in on Roamin Lettuce and roll it up like a taco and it is like having a taco. Me, I just mix it all up together like a salad. What's this I hear about you cheating? How bad? What did you do?

As far as a weigh in day...I really don't care. I have been peeking at the scale every few days but I don't really want to count except once a week. I say let's shoot for Friday's?? What do you think?

                      Looking for an induction buddy

Hi Karen...thank you for the reply. I did start yesterday and got up this morning at 5:45 to get a mile in.

In the past, I did not do a lot of exercise when I was on Atkins...walked 3-4 miles a week. I lost weight fine though. This time, in addition to the diet, I am doing the 10,000 steps a day for a cardio workout...IT AIN"T EASY!!!...and I have ordered a pilates tape for some strength training. I am also going to try very hard to quit smoking.

I am ready to get my 45-year-old body in shape for the long haul this time.

                        Hi Ladies!!!

Glad to see you're both still going strong! I had a hard week last week and yes...I did cheat...booo! But I'm happy to say that I'm not giving up, I'm still here and trying my very hardest to stick this through. Like I mentioned before, I'm hoping to stay on Induction for the month of May and possibly longer if I feel the need. I'm so sick of feeling fat, that at this point I will do anything to succeed!

Nikki, I like your idea of a Friday weigh-in, that way we'll have a boost for the weekend! You have some great ideas for dinner...the tacos sound good too! Thanks!

apugh77, way to go...a run and starting that's awesome! I ran yesterday too and tonight I'm going to the gym to do weights and some cardio. I think the exercise component will really speed up our weight losses.

OK, I hope you both have a terrific day and please keep me posted on your progress!

Everyday we're closer to our goals!

                          cheating

Sometimes you are gonna cheat I guess...right now it is easy for me not to...but I was so determined about getting started and changing my sedentary lifestyle...that has made a huge difference.

The walking (not running) is surely going to make this easier as well. I will probably be doing between 5-6 miles a day, broken up into 3 segments. I bought the pedometer to keep up with the number of steps. There is a lot of information on the internet right now about doing 10,000 steps a day. Several of the exercise folks are supporting it.

It is great for a cardio workout...but I hope the Pilates will give me some muscle tone...which I need desperately!!
