  • Why no iron in your multi-vitamins?

I was wondering why we are not suppose to take a
vitamin with iron in it? I get anemic very easily
and my doc always said take plenty of iron. BUT
I don't want iron to stall me if that is what it does.
Didn't know if I needed to throw out these multi's
and get some new ones or not. Any ideas? ensive

If I remember correctly (and someone, please correctly me if I'm wrong!) it's because we get enough iron from the veggies and protein that we eat. Too much iron can be toxic and bad for your liver. However, I tend to have low iron levels, so my multivitamins contain iron. Had my bloodwork checked in January, and my iron levels are good.

My advice? Check with your doctor...

if you get anemic easily you will want to have your doc monitor your Iron level as some folk have problems absorbing iron from foods which it sounds like you do.

If your doc has you taking iron alraDY YOU WILL NEED TO TALK WITH THEM ABOUT THE INCREASE IN YOUR DIETARY IRON LEVELS AND SEE WHAT THEY RECOMEND oops hit the caps key sorry

Too much iron can kill you is why Dr Atkins recommended not talking it since our foods are so high
