Lauren, I hope you are still around to read this...

I don't think it's rude not to eat something. I've turned down crab dishes before because I'm allergic to crab. No one thought it was rude of me not to eat the crab.

Do the best you can do while you are away: avoid obviously high carb foods (bread, pasta, rice, etc.), eat your veggies and enjoy yourself.

Just politely tell them that you've discovered your body can't tolerate high sugar/starchy foods and you don't want to end up feeling sick. Its never impolite to eat right!

YOU CAN DO IT! Stay strong!

You have a RIGHT to eat the way you need to eat! Tell those lovely caring relatives and friends that if they loved you, they would see to your needs instead of selfishly expecting you to give in to theirs!!! Be strong! You can do it!
( I know, I have several close loved ones who say...you're looking great, but do MY diet!!!! :anger I tell them politely No..and then no some more, and then finally NO)

All you have to do with a pizza is just eat the toppings off your slice/slices.

Again, do the best you can do.

sounds to me you are coming up with all the excuses in the world to give yourself the OK to eat it,, Go ahead, I think your going to anyway. Sorry, not trying to be rude, but we have all been down the same path and reconize the signs.

I think so too. Atkins and the ADBB will be here when you get back, so good luck.

If you want to do Atkins, you need to commit to following it, and that includes letting people know you are on it and to respect your wishes.

People don't force vegetarians to eat meat, or diabetics to over-indulge in sweets do they? Or those that follow strict kosher to eat meat and other things?

Atkins should be no different. It's rude for them to not respect your wishes on what goes into your body.

You should consider this an opportunity to educate others on what Atkins is really like and how it has been good for you.

Let people know ahead of time, if possible, you're on Atkins and that you might turn down what they offer, not that you do not appreciate it, but that you wish to remain true to your way of eating and that yes, a little bite or one meal *can* be bad for you.

                              Be strong.

Good luck with what you decide to do.
