Hello everyone. I was thinking about starting Atkins in order to loose some weight. I haven't bought the book yet because I am unsure if I am going to do the diet. I wanted to ask a question first before I went out and bought it. I am supposed to have a lot of fiber each day (25-30 grams a day--for medical reasons). Would it be okay to have Metamucil (fiber drink) each day, or would that go against the rules of Atkins?

like Moochie said, there is a sugar-free metamucil that's sweetened with aspartame. There are also preparations of 100% psyllium husk that have no sweeteners added to them at all---these are an option for you too.
Otherwise, fiber supplements are part of the Induction phase. So you'll be okay taking a non-sugar sweetened fiber supplement.
By the way, my local public library has copies of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 ed. You might want to check your local public library for copies---that way you don't have to purchase the book.~Megs~

And if your library hasnt got the book on the shelves then have a look round your local charity shops (thrift shops?)
Even here in UK most have at least one copy for sale at low prices.
If you decide not to do Atkins you can always donate it back for someone else to buy!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!
