  • Im on my 14th day and i didnt lose barely anything....

Today is my 14 day on induction and i lost only 1 or 2 pounds. i am very sad. i tried so hard for this diet to work...everyday was like the same thing over and over again, i ate eggs, sauguage, bacon, sometimes salad with no carb dressing, water, cheese, grilled chicken with sourcream and shreeded cheese, steak. i ate the atkins bars that have 2grams of carb and artkins shakes but few times only, very rare.i always bought things and looked at how many carbs it had with 90% of them were 0 and the rest were 1 or 2 the most.i also looked at the sugars to see if it had o, and i looked at the ingredients to see it it had aspertame or cornsyrup...etc. why didnt i lose weight???? :sadblinky
Im 18 years old, about 5'3, i now weight 128, i weighted 130 before my two weeks on induction, i want to get down to 115

    Hi stephanie.

    Did you exercise?
    Did you eat your vegetables?
Did you drink 64 ounces of water plus an additional 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you need to lose?

How many net carbs were you eating daily?

Did you post your menu in the "Review My Menu" section for the folks there to look at?

people here speculate that the low carb products might stall weight loss , i myself use the atkins shakes for breakfast and havent noticed a stall , but each persons body is different

its a given that you need to exercise and consume a minimum of 64 oz of water a day on this diet

you need to count the carbs , atkins site has a carb counter , you can figure out how many carbs you had per day using it ..

www.atkins.com , click "my atkins" tab and youll notice a carb counter link on the left hand side of the screen

make sure youre not consuming more than 20 grams of net carbs a day

do you look to see if the ingredients in the foods were on your induction acceptable foods lists. Did you only consume the serivng size listed on the container? Zero carb fo a 1/4 t can be 95 carbs for a cup because of FDA label rounding laws.

If you don't follow the rules in DANDR chapter 11 and only eat the foods on the lists the and do your exercising then as Dr Atkins says in chapter 15 of DANDR you are not doing his plan.

SO did you do Atkins or did you do your own thing?

In addition to the above, how much do you need to lose? On a clean 14 day Induction, most people lose 5%-10% of the weight they need to lose. So if you only need to lose 20 lbs, 1-2 lbs on Induction is right on target. If you need to lose more than 20 lbs, it could be the bars, it could be not getting enough veggies, or you could be resistant. Post your menu, tell us how much you need to lose. But don't give up.

              I did do atkins

I did do atkins, i have the book, and I went online at the website, atkins.com...i did all the reaseach about it that u could think of, and i was eating less than 20 net carbs a day, some days way less. i never went over 20, i think i actually never went over 10 carbs a day. all i did was drink water. everything i bought from the grocery store i looked at the nutrition facts before i bought them and if i still wasent sure i looked it up in the acceptable atkins food. im 18 years old, im about 5'3, or 5'2...im not sure...and i weight about 128, when i started i weight 130. why do u think i didnt lose weight?????

You dont need to get rid of any more weight. You are where you should be, maybe if you are only interested in toning, try weights. Two red flags I saw with you were, the atkins products are off limits during induction, and are known to stall people. Also, i saw cheese, and sour cream, those are also two things that may stall you. Happy Eating.

congrats on losing 13% of your needed to lose weight you did better then average in your induction loss.

Keep doing your exercise program boith the resistant and the aerobic, eat only enough food each time you eat to satisfy your hunger at the time you are eating drink all your water and keep checking your foods lists.

So you movign to OWL or doing a longer induction?

OH just so you know we on ADBB use the 2002 book written by Dr Atkins and not the essentials nor the Atkins.com website which was altered to allow foods not in the acceptable foods lists for the phases as they decided in this fast c9nvenience food world Atkinseers would notr fix the healthy whole foods Dr Atkins recommened in his books.
                  Happy low carbing.

Yes, you are right on track in terms of your weight loss. Don't be fooled by the numbers you see around here.

5-10% of the weight needed to be lost is the amount folks can expect to lose during Induction. For a person with 10 pounds to lose, that 1/2 to 1 pound. For a person with 100 pounds to lose that 5 to 10 pounds.

Atkins is working for you. Congrats.
