  • Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Okay so I have been on atkins since April 1st. I am 21 years old and 5'3, I started at 143.6 and hated my weight. I thought thta I was SO fat. So I decided that I needed to go back on atkins, I had once gone on atkins about 1 1/2 ago and I lost 25 lbs. I gained all of my weight to due the depo shot which is birth control. I weighed 125-130 all my life, and just couldnt get back down. So anyways, I have been at 143 for the last 1 1/2 and I needed to do something about it. So I started atkins again. And to my suprise I got on the scale today and I weigh 135.8. That is so amazing, you know the last time that I weighed 135.8 I cant even tell you, I know that it was sometimes in high school like right when I started birth contro. And I am 21 and havent been in high scool for years. So I only have 10.8 lbs to go, and I am so psyched. This is amazing, I was at a stall for like 2 weeks but started strict induction again, and have lost another pound, since I started induction over. This is so great. My only question is that, I know that I dont have as much weight to lose as a lot of people on this board. But A couple of years ago when I was on atkins, my ketosis strips were the darkest purple, and this time since I have been on atkins I am SUPER lucky if my ketosis strips are even the lightest color. Whatsup with that????? That kinda worries me. Please help. Thanks for reading my post. I havent felt this good in like forever. I will see my finace in about 6 weeks, and boy will he get a suprise, last time I saw him was when I weighed 143 I am SSSSOOOOO excited.

Whewww, re-reading that :hug . You do not have that much to lose, so it might go more slowly. As long as you keep going like you are, I would not really worry all that much about colors on strips.

You can judge best by loseness of clothing and inches lost. if you feel like it is doing good for you, keep going. Congratulations on the weight loss so far. Just remember, it is proportional to the total you have to lose. So, slow might be just right for you. In teh end, you are getting so many benefits. :yes

The colour on a ketosis strip is related to how hydrated your body is, so don't sweat it about the colour. It's like a pregnancy test: you either are or you aren't...you can't be more or less pregnant or in ketosis, so pink is the same as a dark purple result. It also can't tell you whether the ketones are from the fat in your thighs or the fat you ate with your dinner.
There's not really a need for the strips if you are following the Rules of Induction and eating properly from the Acceptable Foods list. I've never used them and I've managed to shed over 40 pounds.
Also, sometimes you'll run across a dud, so don't put too much store in the sticks.

Take a moment to read this sticky about the nature of weight loss

You weren't technically in a 'stall'....pauses in weight loss are totally normal.

Remember that Dr. Atkins advises to move into the rungs of OWL when we are close to goal. At 10 pounds from your goal, I'd say you qualify! :yes
Re-read the chapter about OWL and start up the rungs, so that when you lose those last few pounds you are prepared and settled into your new way of eating for life so you never see those pounds again.
