• Day 2: Throwing Confetti!!!

Hey All,
I had another tremendous day on program. This time around it is so easy. No headache, no fatigue, just pumped!
I hope everyone had a great day. If not hang in there...it's worth it!

Be well-

Good for you, Jade! :joy

Now, this may seem like I'm totally raining on your parade by recommending you read this sticky about weight loss

but it's good to know what to expect, right? :yes

Good for you. As long as you know everyday is not that easy and you have some back up plans in case you get tempted, you are all set. You know once you have the right mindset, you can do it. You are definitely into the "I'm gonna do it" mode. COngratulations and good luck. Keep cooking up the good stuff. :icondance

Weighing

I weigh myself every morning...three times...digital scale...to make sure the weight is correct. However, I don't get discouraged that much when the scale hasn't moved. I figure tomorrow is another day and you really can't expect to lose something every day. Your body has to have time from day to day to make the necessary adjustments. It doesn't know what to let go of and what to keep! After a few days, it always moves...and if it happens sooner than that...then it is surely reason for confetti throwing and usually motivates me to be even more conscious of what goes in my mouth.

Hey Moochiecat!

Good for you, Jade! :joy

*Thanks! And may I say 'You Look Mahvelous Dahling!'

*Thanks so much! I remember the first time I did Atkins I was given this very good advice! Thanks again for the reminder! I totally agree with you! I may see no movement of the old scale needle for a couple of days then all of a sudden I get that golden "WHOOSH" and then it moves!
This is certainly very good and timely advice! Thanks for sharing it with me! I hope others take it to heart as well because it really makes a difference when you know how the weight moves! (and sometimes doesn't!)

Thanks again for your encouragement and for taking the time to cheer me on! I soooo appreciate it!

Hey sidrah!
Thanks for taking the time to encourage me!

Good for you. As long as you know everyday is not that easy and you have some back up plans in case you get tempted, you are all set.

*I was just talking to Moochicat about that. Some days the old needle may not move any and then other days it does. And some days are 'piece of cake' and others not so! You can all think of me today as we are having a bridal shower for one of our teacher today. Several of us brought 'decadent desserts' including me! It was funny...I had no problems making it last night because I had already eaten. But I know how I am when I see dozens of plates of rich desserts. I usually use the old 'Oh well, I'll just start over tomorrow!' But this morning I decided to make the decision NOT to eat that stuff and go off my program. So I packed a container of sugar free jello and will have that when everyone else is porking out on cake! That way I don't feel excluded, and am taking care of myself plus guarding my goal! You are so right! Every day is different and planning for it is key!

You know once you have the right mindset, you can do it. You are definitely into the "I'm gonna do it" mode. COngratulations and good luck. Keep cooking up the good stuff. :icondance
Thanks again for taking the time to encourage me and for your words of wisdom! I appreciate them so much! I know you will be one I can count on in the event that the 'I'm gonna do it' mode wears off into 'Can I do this?' I know those moments will come as well. But knowing I have some fellow Atkiners to vent on will help alot!

Re: Weighing

Hey apugh77
Thanks for taking the time to encourage me! I really appreciate it!

I weigh myself every morning...three times...digital scale...to make sure the weight is correct.

*I'm glad to hear that! When I did Atkins for the first time many moons ago I was discouraged in using the scale. Then someone else told me to use what worked for me.

However, I don't get discouraged that much when the scale hasn't moved. I figure tomorrow is another day and you really can't expect to lose something every day. Your body has to have time from day to day to make the necessary adjustments. It doesn't know what to let go of and what to keep!

*I'm with you on that! I do weigh each day but like you I don't get discouraged when the scale doesn't move because it can only tell me what's on it. It can't tell if I'm retaining water due to that wonderful time of the month, it can't tell if I had some particularly salty food the night before, and it can't tell if I didn't get all of my water in either. It can only tell me what sits on it. Funny how we like to make the scale play God! lol

After a few days, it always moves...and if it happens sooner than that...then it is surely reason for confetti throwing and usually motivates me to be even more conscious of what goes in my mouth.
*Exactly! But I also throw confetti at the end of the day when I know I've been faithful to my program. For me this time around THAT is more important than what the scales or tape measure say. It is so important for me to build in that discipline to say 'no' because I am a food addict. I'm the type that Dr. Atkins talked about where food is a drug to me. It has been so cool to be 'clean' for the last two days. And another celebration is that I have been soda pop free for almost 5 months now THAT is so significant for me. I had been drinking Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb every morning (20 oz cups) then also bought 2 liters to drink later in the day then more at night! So giving up the suds has been great for me!

Thanks again for encouraging me! I love this program and the people on this board are great!

I will just add my congrats, and I see that our very capable moochie has connected you with some excellent advice. It also seems like you are really listening to the advice and I hope you are tuning into your body as well. That is something we all need to learn on this journey is to tune in and listen to what our body is telling us about how we treat it. When we are in the mode of doing healthy things to and for our bodies, then the body says "ooooooohhhhhhhhh I like that. You are feeding me healthy food, and I am going to take care of you because you take care of me."
Have a great day, and much success on your journey.

*Thanks! I always want to be 'teachable'. I think I'm getting better at listening to my body! I think it's been suffering for a long time! I listen to my 'eyes' as they lust after food that only hurts me instead of listening to my body crying out for some rescue/relief!

*Here is a question for you as a veteran: What do you do when you're not hungry? I go ahead and eat something on program because I know that I will be hungry but I really haven't been since I started May 1st. Is that the right thing to do? I'm also trying really hard to get my carbs in.

Jade, Yes, you need to eat. I really find that eating several small meals helps me. I don't eat as much at one time, and it is spread out over the day and evening.

Thanks so much for the compliment. I have been at goal for a year and half now, and so I am only one of many who can attest to the fact that not only can you lose the weight, but you can keep it off and be healthy doing this WOE. I have been at goal for about 18 months.
