I have been doing atkins now for 8 days and i just purchased the strips. I am not in ketosis yet and wanted to know what could i be doing wrong? I'm eating my eggs, meat, cheese, veggies!! Also, has anyone found that they still loose a considerable amount of weight and never are in ketosis?? :help

A couple of things about the testing strips.
The best time to test is in the evening an hour or two after you've eaten. If you're testing in the AM chances are you'll get a neutral reading because your body has been without food for so long.
Also remember that although the testing strips can be great for motivation - they are not conclusive. Ketones are release through breath and skin as well as urine so a neutral reading doesn't necessarily mean you're not in ketosis.
In fact, many people lose weight in full Ketosis without ever testing positive for ketones.
So take the readings with a grain of salt, like scales they can be misleading and cause just as much unnecessary grief. If your appetite is reduced and you're following the Atkins plan correctly and sure looks like you are!
Chances are you're in Ketosis and your body is burning fat - not carbs and that's what it's all about regardless of what the strips tell you.

Thank you Peter!! I needed that encouragement! I just remember doing this diet 4 years ago and being in ketosis and losing. But you're probably right. I unconciously test when i wake up or before i have eaten. That's probably it.
