  • Day 4: WOW! But wary...

    Hello All!
WOW! This program is really working! I'm going to have to make a trip to good will if this keeps up!
I work at an elementary school and every month we celebrate that month's birthdays. Well, today was the day for May birthdays. The lounge was filled with bagels, coffee cake, muffins et al! We also had desserts left over from the wedding shower we gave yesterday! And you know what? It didn't even phase me! I'm SO loving this!!! But I'm also old enough (in the weight loss scheme of things-you name the diet, I've probably done it!) to know that there will come a time when I least expect it that I WILL be tempted. So I'm trying to stay sharp by planning ahead.
Thanks again for all of you who have supported me!! La! I feel TOO special! You are all great! (Especially Moochiecat and Betty the BIG RED FAN GIRL FROM NEBRASKA!!)

I hope everyone had a great day on program!
    Be well-

    Good for you, Jade!
That's the hard part. When your surrounded by high carb stuff. Early on this WOE was easy for me, just keep bad foods out of the house. Im beat temptaions by avoidance. I probably would have cheated more if I worked at a pizza joint or snack company. Would have been harder, even knowing it was bad for me. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak, if you know what I mean?

Every challenge that you overcome makes the next one easier and then the pattern ingrained for lifelong success. Good for you. If you haven't already, take your measurements. You'll be happy you did. I'd also challenge you to stay off the scales until the end of your two week induction period. We all love day 15 posts around here!

:hug Husker love ... :hug ALWAYS A HUSKER FAN HERE!!

Jade, you are doing exceptional!! Isn't that feeling of empowerment that Atkins gives far more exciting than a donut, a bagel or a coffeecake??

Keep up the great work and GO BIG RED!

Every single thing a person does...whether it's taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or passing on a donut, or reaching for some mayo to slap on that piece of leftover roast, or chugging down that last glass of water or choosing NOT to have 'just one bite'....each thing is a piece of a large puzzle and it all adds up.

Hang in there, and celebrate every single victory you have...from the scale's needle moving, to passing up those muffins, and soon you'll be addicted to that feeling of accomplishment! :joy

            Hey Jim!
Thanks for taking the time to encourage me! I appreciate it! I agree with you on keeping the bad stuff out of the house. I got rid of all the stuff I love. I still buy things for my family but nothing I like! I'm like you...I have to avoid the temptation. That's why I stay out of the teacher's lounge at my school.
Keep up the good work! What great numbers! You're an inspiration!

              Hey Girl!
Thanks for the Husker hug!!! And thanks for the encouragement. I did feel empowered today! I never thought of not giving in to temptation like that but you're right! How cool! I'll have to write that one down. Another way to measure my success on Atkins!

Thanks for being in my corner! (GO BIG RED!)

Hey Isabeau! (What a beautiful name!)
Thanks for taking the time to encourage me! I love it! I did take my measurements. I'm looking forward to taking them again after 2 weeks! I really do want to make this a lifetime pattern of eating. I'm so tired of dieting. That's one thing I decided to do this time on Atkins-Make it a lifestyle change instead of just a quick weight lost scheme. It's made all the difference in the world.

                Thanks again for the encouragement!

                  Moochiecat!!!
Thank you! I love that attitude!! It's so easy to just think of the things that we've always relied on to affirm our weight loss: scales, measurements, etc. But how often do we count those little 'blessings' you've listed below!! Those very things are great indicators of weight loss as well because it shows that we are committed to meeting our goal!
Well done! Those things didn't even enter my mind!
Thanks again for cheering me on! You're a jewel!
