I've had so many false starts that I wonder if I ever will complete the 14 day induction. So here I am again - on induction - starting today. I'm more determined this time to get this weight off. This is the only diet I know along with exercise that truly works! I must do it this time!

      Stick to it!

      Hey peeps :wave

Although I am BRAND-new to ADBB, I am definitely not new to Atkins. This is my second time going through the Induction phase, kinda. The first time I started Atkins I lost a total of 56lbs. From 256 to 200 (199 for a day or so LOL), but what really hurt me was my lack of willpower during Induction.

It is hard. Very hard, but I encourage you guys not to flip flop with the Induction phase (not that I'm an expert, but...) because when you flip flop your body does get rather confused. Burn carbs....no, I need to burn fat, wait, here's another carb, let me burn that THEN I'll burn that fat....

That is completely counter-productive to your efforts!

It might help to think of it this way....once you've gone ONE day without cheating do you really want to waste all that effort and good work the following day by eating even ONE serving of something you shouldn't?

I wish you guys MUCH luck (and myself lol) because I know how hard it is to maintain on the Induction, but I am so hoping you guys do it! :joy

      Manda :wave

      Start Weight = 218
      Current Weight = 212
      Goal Weight = 165

Results Thus Far: 6lbs lost in 3 days! :joy

Apart from what was said here - if you start induction then on say day 4 you cheat (eat something not on the acceptable foods list) you DON'T start again at day 1 - but at day 5. just get back on track and carry on.
Then on day 15 decide whether to move onto OWL or stay on induction for a while longer (usually if you have a lot of weight to lose)
This is so you can follow the 4 phases of Atkins and arrive at goal ready to continue on maintenance for life.
OWL and premaintenance are stages where you find your CCLL and see how your body treats the other food groups that you will be experimenting with by adding a few at a time throughout your Atkins journey.

BTW if when on OWL or premaintenance or even at goal and on maintenance you still dont return to 14-dy induction if you fall off the Atkins wagon - just do a few days of induciton level eating till you are back in ketosis then return to the stage of Atkins you were at when you slipped!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
