  • Too much jello??

I was wondering......can eating too much jello backfire on you on induction?? I'm doing well so far.....9 pounds lost in 6 days exercising like mad and feeling so much more ALIVE!!! Problem is I eat like 1 package of jello (sugar free but sweetend w/ aspartame....we don't have any splenda sweetened versions that I know of in canada) every 2 days!!!!! Is too much aspartame going to affect weightloss in the future??? thanks!!

I think that it affects people differently. For me, that fake jello with aspertame kicked me out of ketosis. I eliminated it from my diet and i was back in ketosis.

Technically, Jello sweetened with aspartame is not allowed on the diet due to the fact that aspartame is known to stall or slow weight loss and that Dr. Atkins said to avoid it. (See the Induction Acceptable Foods list, artificial sweetener sub category)

I do realize that there is mention of a "gelatin dessert sweetened with Sucralose" in the Induction sample menu. That's totally different from Jello brand gelatin which is sweetened with aspartame.

Furthermore, the sweetner limits for the Atkins diet is 3 servings daily. A packet of Jello brand gelatin contains 4 to 8 servings depending on the size of the packet you bought. So you are eating over that amount.

Try to cut out sweets and desserts during induction and you may find your sweet tooth disappears as a lot of us have :yes

Eat a high fat legal snack instead when you feel you need a sweet food, or some people keep pickled cucumbers around and eat one instead which kills the cravings stone dead!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
