    Hello carol! Welcome to ha

You know you'd be setting yourself up to fail right now if you weren't willing to invest the couple of hours it takes to read the 2002 version of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution.

If I had a nickel for every person who started this WOE, did it wrong and then blamed the Atkins Diet for their not following it right, I'd have a lot of nickels.

Do this the right way or how will you ever know if it really worked for you or not?

Me, I want this to work for you.

What Cleo told is right on, find the book and read it. If nothing else read everything on Atkins.com Induction site and the FAQ forums on this site. What you read online might not prevent an oops like reading the book will, it will certainly clear up any notions of this being a no carb diet and why we eat lots of healthy fats in our diet. (Pssst, here's a head start... in order to become a fat burning machine, your body has to get used to burning fats for fuel. Ketosis is just that your body has expended all its easy sources of fuel (glucose, and stored glycogen) and had to switch over to burning fats (eaten or stored). I hope this helps.)

I was the same skeptical person one year ago March, but the first step is to get educated on what to eat and what not to eat. (drink (water), and do (exercise))

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

If you want to talk to a previous non-believer than here I am...believe me every diet or eating style I had ever adopted all revolved around low fat, low cal...etc and at the end of the day although maybe for a couple of months I could deal...eventually even if I lost weight all I ended up feeling was low and unsatisfied. I think one important thing to remember about atkins is that although in the beginning it might feel like you are eating all of this food that previously you had deemed as fatty and unhealthy that if you look at it from a logical perspective it's just not true....I mean think back to hunters and gatherers...basically all they had to eat were proteins, animal and natural fats and the occasional fruits and veggies...this is what our body was meant to metabolize not overly processed chemically derived sugar laden food. Furthermore, atkins not only reprograms our bodies to burn fat more efficiently, but it also allows us the chance to reteach ourselves what carbs our body can metabolize with no problems and which ones we should be weary of by gradually reintroducing them in later stages the the atkins WOL. Although, I have only been on atkins for 6 days now and have not stepped on the scale or measured myself...I can already tell by the way clothes are fitting that I'm losing inches. At the end of the day if I can feel satisfied with the food that I'm eating, happy about the way my body is changing, full of energy and motivated to succeed...as the once infamous mc hammer once said "atkins is 2 legit...2 legit to quit" haha okay well actually really am not a fan of mc hamemr...but hey it way way too cheesy of a line to pass up :joy

Believe alright... one of my colleagues noticed I was shrinking away and asked what I was eating, and finally she joined up as well and managed to get her whole family (her brother-in-law, hubby & 2 kids) onto Atkins as well. Plus, a second colleague started up and to date both have lost inches and weight.

We're all walking proof that Atkins work. I'm not saying it would be easy, but I'm saying that keep it as your WOL and I promise you, you will see the results! :yes

Re: help im a non believer

                Hey Carol,
Welcome! I would encourage you to read the first 10 chapters of the 2000 edition of Dr. Atkins book. He breaks down why we can lose weight on his food plan by eating high amounts of proten and fats. After you read that it will make more sense to you.
But the real proof is in the results. I started Induction on May 1st. Today was the end of my first week. I've lost 10 lbs already. But more than the weight loss is the control! I'm not hungry all the time, no cravings and I have so much energy. For me having that control has been priceless.
So I encourage you to give it a go, mate. I think you'll be surprised at the results.

We're here to cheer you on!
                Be well-
