    Hey All,
Jade here. I just wanted to thank you all again for your support here on the board. You guys are tremendous!
I also want to offer an apology for a mistake I made in posting on this board. I don't want anything I share on this board to be a hinderance to anyone, especially those who are totally new to Atkins and/or have issues that may not be an issue for me.
So in a spirit of productivity, I apologize if I have cause any undo stress or discomfort/confusion to anyone on the board with regards to the issue of frequent weighing. I'm an old 'Atkid' and forgot that small rule as I don't have an issue with the scales. I have been in such a huge 'funk' for the last few years in carrying this tonage I bear, that in my zeal I went overboard in reporting my results.
Dr. Atkins recommends and encourages us to weigh only every two weeks and that is what should be supported.
So in a spirit of supporting those who are new on the board or who have issues with the scale, I have also went back and edited my past posts so that there is no confusion.

    Always learning!
    Be well-

jade, though I'm sure your apology is well received from some people, I don't need one. Granted, I am new to this board and have no idea how such a simple topic could get so inflated, but I must say that as a long-time Atkins believer I see no problem with using a scale on a daily basis nor do I see a problem with people refraining from scale-dependency.

In my opinion, this matter would be simple. If you're curious about your weight and are more concerned about the pounds/kg than the inches/health aspects of Atkins Nutritional Aproach then GET ON THAT SCALE! But if you wish to follow Atkins *advice* (which is all his teachings are!) then only weigh yourself once every couple of weeks.

It just doesn't make sense to me how such a topic could make someone want to apologize for anything they've said about it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion!

I hope me saying that I'd rather not eat spinach and broccoli during my Induction phase doesn't get people up in arms :yikes

Anyhoo....just my opinion, but I see that you obviously felt obligated to apologize and that's great -- but my *advice* to anyone in your position is not to feel obligated to apologize for your own personal choices nor sharing your opinions on those choices.

Hope that made sense and didn't offend ya :hug

I must have missed something ...Anyhow.

The issue with weighing daily is that some folks don't realize that weight can fluctuate daily (even hourly), then they freak out that they've gained 0.5 pounds since their weigh in 6 hours earlier. Believe me, we had one person here in tears because she weighed herself in the morning then 4 hours later she weighed herself on some scale in a department store and weighed 7 pounds more than she did in that morning and became very upset that Atkins wasn't working for her and it was an evil diet blah blah blah---unfortunately, she didn't consider that her winter coat, boots and purse accounted for that "weight gain".

If you don't mind weighing daily or more than once daily and realize that it's normal for weight to fluctuate (and that your boots might add on some extra pounds when you weigh yourself wearing them), then go for it.

Listen. It's different strokes for different folks. I weigh everyday.

You just write off all weigh-ins save for on the 'official' day.

As long as you keep it in perspective and don't let it throw you off-track, go ahead and weigh in.

I don't think it would bother anyone Manda :hug
Mind you if you started advising others not to eat any veggies at all you definitely would get people worried about your future health and success on Atkins :yikes

But we have had many inductees who couldn't stop the daily scales routine and ended up falling off the wagon after deciding that the usual daily fluctuation they were experiencing meant that Atkins wouldn't work for them and have disappeared for good :sadblinky

The members who advised against daily weighing have probably either seen this happen or have found that they themselves got discouraged in this way and so were only trying to help :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I TOTALLY agree with everything you guys have said!

And I can certainly understand how those who aren't educated as well in the way our bodies function would get upset when they jump on the scale several times a day!! Matter-of-fact, I remembered when I started Atkins over a year ago and was in the middle of losing my first 56lbs -- I had depressed myself a few times even though I KNEW that my weight would fluctuate throughout the day lol I was a bit foolish, but I tell ya.....the anticipation can really get a person going, can't it?! Boy oh boy...

Thanks for the reassurance about the broccoli Elizellen :sarcasm

Anyhoo, you guys are fun already!

              Hey Manda
Thank you! I feel much better. I just want people to succeed. This program DOES work and I just wouldn't want to do anything to hinder someone from following the program.
I've been an 'Atkid' from of old and I never have had a problem with the scales but I can sure sympathize with those who do. I have other things that make me go down the tubes so I know how it feels to be dependent on something that in itself is neutral but when I start to give it power then it becomes this 'raging beast' type of thing.
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.

Thanks for responding. I remember on another board I use to frequent, there were people that did the same thing this woman did.
Anyway, thanks for sharing. I appreciate everyone's opinion. I may not agree with it but I respect the right to share it.

                    Hey "Elizellen"]

The members who advised against daily weighing have probably either seen this happen or have found that they themselves got discouraged in this way and so were only trying to help :hug
That's why I apologized. I saw my reporting my daily weight as a hinderance to some so I stopped. I can still weigh daily but I will not encourage anyone else to do it. Dr. Atkins thought it important to weigh only once a week so I will support that notion on the board.

Thanks for taking the time to share! I appreciate it. I've been to your lovely country. Where is your town located?

Well, I feel like everyone has different opinions about alot of things, and you gotta do what is best for you.. I too am a daily weigher, and always have been. It really helps me to weigh every day so I can see how my body reacts to different foods. HOWEVER, I do not have scale issues..I know weight fluctuates..and I only post my weight changes on "official weigh in days"

And I think it was very nice of you to post an apology, if you felt it necessary!! :hug

You want to know why I love this board more than macadamia nuts?

Threads like this one, and posters like the ones on this thread.

You know, we can all disagree, and we can agree to disagree.

When we all can do it amicably, still be friends, care about one another and make an apology even when one might not even be merited, WOW.

It says so much to why this is such a very special place. I've never seen another like it.

Yeah for ADBB, and amen to friendship on this thread.

so we all know Jade :hug isn't a scalenumberphobic. Those are the folk I advise not to weigh daily cause they post and post and post about how they only lost 1 or no pounds since yesterday and what are they doing wrong. For those folk the scale number dictates how they feel about themselves and their Atkins. We have some stay off the scales challenges for those folk to join for support in measuring their Atkins success in terms of how they feel and their clothes fit.

But if the metal monster doesn't effect your outlookon life jump on it as much as you want. Some old time memebers know I got 6 sets of sclaes :yes in my house and love to see what different activities do to those numbers.

                              Hey "love2beeamom"
Thanks so much for sharing! I agree with you. I take care of myself the way that is best for me, and I encourage others to do that too. I only know how I am effected by issues. I never presume that I know how others deal with issues because I am not them.
How do you know when the 'official weigh in days' are? Are they like every Monday or something?
Thanks again for sharing. I appreciate your input and that you took the time to share.
