Hi Tickletussler!!! Thank you ! I know I have a wealth of knowledge here to tap into with all of you , It will be so nice to have people who have been through it to help us on our way as well as new atkineers to share our trials and (hopefully soon) victories with weightloss. I want to find the willpower to stick with this so I don't look back on this day a year from now and wonder what could have been!!! I want to make a difference now! Keep the faith! Tammy

        Hi Tammy,

Yeah, the next few days are usually tough for most, especially if your favourite foods were pasta, potato chips and sweets. Your body is trying to switch over to ketosis/fat burning and going through carb-withdrawal, so you may feel crap. However, something like the 5th-7th day you usually start to feel better and by the end of Induction you feel like you have heaps more energy.

I'm not gonna say it's going to be easy, and I don't know if you will ever have cravings or give in to them. The thing is to read your DANDR (many times as most of us are still doing), read all the stickies that are posted at the beginning of your forum, and come to ADBB anytime you feel bored, want to give in to a craving, think you have stuffed up, whatever!

The moderators here are really nice - Moochiecat always has a big smile and you can feel it in her words, Elizellen is your motherly sort who looks after all and gives great comfort at advice, Peterlock and Megs and 2big have been around a while and have loads of experience and are also incredibly knowledgeable and helpful... well these are the mods I've come across mostly so far, and there are a few more nice ones I haven't mentioned (but not forgotten)

Peterlock has this great sticky called "How To Succeed On Atkins Without Even Trying". I look at it as one of your answers to your question "how not to fail". He doesn't quite word it that way, but it is a really really helpful read. Here's the link:

        Happy Low-Carbing and keep posting!

        Cheers.

            Hey Tammy!
WELCOME!! We're so glad you've joined us! This is a tremendous board with wonderful folks full of great wisdom and advice.
The most important thing you can do for yourself is to read the book. The 2000 edition is the book of choice. Read it from cover to cover. It explains the science behind the food plan and gives explicit instructions on how to follow it.
So enjoy and again welcome to a new journey to fitness and health!

            Be well-

Hi and welcome! Change is never easy, but we're all here to help you meet your weight loss goals. DANDR will be indispensible and we use the 2002 edition around here. I find there are four components to be successful on Atkins. Eat only from the acceptable food list, drink your water, exercise and be patient. If you can manage all of those four things you will be successful. Glad you're here!
