  • Hate to ask ...but

    Hi folks

Hate to ask but have anyone of you any advise on constipation. I'm on week 5 of Atkins and havent been for well over a week. Feeling really tired and lethargic. Even tried laxatives but nothings happening. Please help x

Are you eating your vegetables and drinking all your water?
Which laxatives did you try and for how long? If you use psyllium, wheat bran or flaxmeal, you'll have to wait a few days to see an effect.

I used Sennakot and only used it the once on both occasions. Do i need to keep taking them for days?

Sennakot is a different type of laxative than what Dr. Atkins recommended...I think you might need to consult your doctor.

            Hey "a1auds"]
If you have a health food store in your city/town, you can find psyllium husk capsules. Take 2 at each meal with a full glass of water. You'll be kissing constipation bye bye real soon! In fact, when I take them, I have results about an hour after I eat. Try that and see if it helps. Dr. A recommends psyllium husk.
I agree with the others too. Please make sure you're getting in your water and vegetables.

            Be well-

DANDR recommends to take psyllium husks or flaxseed meal (also known as linseed meal) to help with constipation

I see members taking as much as 0.25 cup a day and it does help because the carb content is sooo low.

I was a big veggie eater before I started Atkins so I had problems after I started, but taking psyllium husks definitely helps.

2 tablespoons of Peter Pan sf peanut butter (sweetened with splenda) works like a charm for me.

And a great source of protein too.
