Hello everyone, I have just found the ADBB, which is really good news as
I don't know anyone locally who is doing Atkins. I am English, you seem to have access to a lot of products that we don't in the UK, but I haven't looked very hard as I am sticking to the Induction to the letter. This forum is so helpful and has really motivated me to start. I do have to admit to hopping onto the scales on day 2 - and found I had lost 3lbs, but I shall try to stay away from them until day 14 now. I have taken my measurements and am downing 8 pints of water a day. I have also just started to learn horse-riding, and I feel the horse may be grateful to Atkins too!!

A question on the water front, I find it quite hard to drink plain water so have been drinking a flavoured still spring water called Danone Shape, it states it has no calories and on the label also has no carbs, calories, fibre or sugar. It is sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame K, has anyone else heard of this and is it OK as I would hate to mess up these first 14 days.

I really look forward to getting to know everyone and congratulations on all this wonderful weight loss you are all such inspiration.

Hi and welcome! It sounds like that water is alright for induction but it does contain sucralose (an artificial sweetener) so you would have to count it towards your 3 servings of artificial sweetener per day and it should not replace your daily water intake.

i started monday as well and i'm down about 7 lbs but i know its all water.

when it comes to drinking water it really has to be plain water. you shouldn't be drinking anything flavored.

          GOOD LUCK

Sometimes I put a few lemon slices in my water just for a bit of taste. Water...I'm not a big drinker of it, but I will be. Good luck!!

Thanks for support everyone, and for the tip about a slice of lemon, that may make it taste.

I am such a ditz, I have read the book from cover to cover and it still didn't click that the sucralose in the flavoured water would have to be counted towards the total carbs for the day, thanks Isabeau, it just goes to show how easy it is to overlook something obvious. I think I shall just go for plain water now.

I am a bit puzzled though, it is day 4 and i have only lost 3 lbs the same 3 lbs that I lost on day 2, but i will keep at it strictly and hope something happens soon. I am in a mid-purple ketosis too so must be burning something!!

Well done Sharon, thats a good loss in a few days and Pluorvee really great, 7lbs must give you a boost. I find my knees ache a bit too Peytonn
maybe that will disappear soon. Look forward to seeing what we have all lost in 14 days. xx Tasha (starfire)

                  Welcome!

Welcome to the board :wave. Don't get discouraged, it is after all only day 3 or 4 for you. How much you need to lose has a lot to do with how much you lose in induction. 5-10% of what you want to lose is the norm for weight loss at this level in this woe. If you had to lose 30lbs and lost more than 3lbs during induction--you should be thrilled! So far you've already lost your 10%! :wave

Hi Iyshiaf, thanks for the encouragement. I have only just realised I can add my signature to this so have posted my weight etc. I have 50 lbs to lose so not quite 10% but as you say it is only day 4.

I see you are cheat-free for 2 months - well done hope it wasn't too difficult.

just back away and no one will get hurt

Please follow Dr Atkins advice and stay off the scale for two weeks. Weighing every day is totally counter-productive to this way of life.

Atkins is a permanent lifestyle, not a slickzoid, flash in the pan, cockamanie, tabloid magazine diet.
