  • I am starving

    I started my diet today I know its a weird day but the weekend is coming and its easier for me this way this the way I did it the last time. But I just ate and I feel really hungry. This is my menu for today.

    Breakfast (because I can't eat anything in the morning I have always grossed out) 7:45 am:
    Strawberry Atkins shake

    Snack 10:00 am:
    5 pieces of each brocoli and califlower florets raw
    1 ounce of cheddar cheese
    1 tablespoon of salad dressing

    Lunch 12:00 pm:
    Chicken BLT salad from Wendy's
    1/2 packet of the dressing

    Dinner 5:00 pm:
    2 scrambled eggs with 2 slices of ham and a hotdog sliced

    Water: As of right now at 5:50 pm 24 ounces

    I used to gag over the idea of eating first thing in the morning, but since I chose to commit to changing my way of eating, I've overcome that. Find a food you really enjoy and have it for breakfast...it doesn't have to be a typical 'breakfast' food.
    Put the shakes away until you are in OWL, because the ingredients aren't allowed during Induction. Fresh natural foods are better for you anyway.. :yes

    You might want to spread your veggies out through the day a bit more. Perhaps save half your lunch salad for dinner.
    At dinner time you had ham and a hotdog...both very high sodium foods, so it's extremely important that you get in 64+ ounces of water.

    If you are still hungry, then eat something from the Acceptable Foods list.
    Take some time to read the sticky's in this forum, and check out the Fitday sticky in particular. Fitday can help you to see where you are in your protein/fat/carb balance. :yes It can take a little while to get into the swing of it all, so just take it day by day and soon you'll be cruising right along.

    So, eat a better breakfast, spread your veggies out through the day more, ease up on the salty foods, and drink drink drink that water. :capital

      no reason to starve on Atkins

      There is no reason to ever be hungry on Atkins. Eat liberally of fish, fowl, shellfish, meat, and eggs. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I always have 2 - 3 eggs, veggies, with 6 - 10 pieces of breakfast meat.

      I eat until I am full - not stuffed. I do this every meal.

      If I am feeling hungry between meals I have a nice healthy snack.

      If you are hungry, EAT! Just stick to the foods on the acceptable food list.

      And make sure you have enough fat - cook your eggs in butter - eat some of the fat on your meat servings. This give your brain a chemical signal that it isn't in starvation mode and it is okay to start releasing your fat stores.

      Positive self-talk is extremely important.

      I am starving becomes "Good healthy, wholesome food is my friend on Atkins. I can always eat when I feel hungry."
