Nitrates in Bacon

I love bacon and have been looking for a nitrate free one. Does anyone have a suggestion. And does anyone know nitrates are not allowed.

I dont know if its that they're not allowed, its just nitrates have been known to cause cancer.

You can find nitrate free bacon at butcher shops. I also think boars head makes it? Not sure.. never really been worried about nitrates..

I can't find a nitrite free bacon where I am, but I can find a sugar free one. I only eat maybe one serving a week anyways. My understanding is the same as spazzyhilo's. They won't interfere with your weight loss, they're just nasty and a known carcinogen.

Cant find nitrate free bacon in my town either, and not sure about a butcher shop. But i buy turkey bacon, but it doesnt say nitrate free either, but im assuming it is leaner.
