Just started day 7 and what a roller coaster. I can’t say I feel better, I can’t say I feel worse! My mood seems to change by the minute. Generally my appetite is a lot less than it normally would be, but it’s the way I feel that’s getting me. Just awoke to a bad headache, feels like I have got a hangover. I never get hangovers! Are these mood swings normal and if so how long do they last.

      Hey "colinwants2bthin"
WELCOME! Please make sure that you are getting all of your water in. Headache is one of the key signs of dehydration. Also make sure you are getting all of your carbs in. I know that when I wasn't doing the above I would feel a headache coming on.
Are you exercising at all? I know that was something else that helped me the first time I ever did Atkins.
Hang in there! This too shall pass!

      Be well-

you may also be experiencing induction flu. Sometimes it happens at the end of the 2 weeks instead of the beginning. For me it happened in the beginning but I was feeling dizzy, nausea, and had headaches all the time for 3 days.

Drink your water and make sure your getting your vitamins and it will pass

Yes I am drinking loads of water. But I am still dehydrated, Mouth feels dry all the time. Trouble is the more I drink in one end, out the other.

            Yep, water in, water out...lol

I think that it could probably be Induction Flu rearing it's ugly head. On Day 7, I was still headachy and bodyachy as well, and I was questioning Atkins. I stuck to it though, and at the end of the 14 days I felt back to myself. Hang in there and just keep it in your mind that this is temporary and when it's done it's done.

Also, Induction is a time of mentally adjusting yourself to think in different terms about food, and that in itself can be unsettling. A lot of us go through a period of mourning of sorts as we realize that no means no when it comes to sugar and other things we used to mindlessly indulge in.
When that realization hit me, it helped me a lot when it came to dealing with my moodiness.
Time will take care of that as well...but do hang in there! :yes

              ketosis

Mood swings are normal. They will pass.

Almost everyone has some sort of weird symptom during induction. Mine was a froggie in the throat. But it passed, and so will your headaches, hangovers and mood swings.

Based on my experience, you will soon find yourself on an even keel with Atkins because you are no longer eating foods and beverages that give damaging highs and lows.

Hang in there dude! You are on the right path.

Wow Colin, I sure can relate to what you are going through! I am on Day 6 and my moods are all over the place. Yesterday I felt terribly down, but I figured it was just induction, so I went with the flow and watched sad movies and cried all day.. LOL

Today I dont feel down, but I feel very tired and listless. So I am treating myself to a day on the couch playing sims on my computer LOL

I think we just have to go with the flow, listen to our body and try to be gentle with ourselves for the first few weeks. Or stay incredibly busy and just distract ourselves.

Good luck with the rest of your induction! :joy

Hey Colin! You're doing great by sticking through this!

I was REALLY lucky and never got an induction flu, but I certainly understand the feeling of always being thirsty. I still am that way and it only gets worse the more water I drink. I drink over a gallon of water every day though and I crave it all the time. Keep the water up, take your vitamins if you aren't doing so, and it should pass.

I also never really got that burst of energy everyone talks about after the first week or so...so don't feel too bad.

                  Keep it up!
