Mike, make sure you read the ingredients and dont buy anything processed or soft. Choose hard cheeses (like cheddar). Also if you want sliced american cheese go to the deli and buy some Boars Head.

Cheese can be one of those foods that is easy to overdo, which is why the good doctor put a limit on it, I'll bet.

I never really ate cheese until Atkins, and wow...it opened up a whole new world for me! I really enjoy the swiss cheeses, and an aged gouda is just delicious!

I am a cheese addict! :sadblinky

To solve it and help better control.. I but it in the 8oz blocks and just cut it in half. Then I know exactly what I have had for the day.

I think Mike was probably talking about string cheese? I've only ever seen it in mozzarella or cheddar. They're really great for portion control cuz they are 1 oz each. No need to measure there. Plus you can take em on the go.
Cheese was a killer for me at one point too. Then I realized if I cut it out almost all together, my weight came off quicker. That was enough to stop me from overdoing the cheese! But its soooo good! :anger

yeah what i had was cheddar cheese, they had these little sticks of it and i had 3 at work and 4 at home (each was 1 oz)

at least i know i have to watch it with the cheese now, and wont eat so much of it (just put it on burgers and meats instead of eating it as a snack)

Some foods we have to learn how to eat. Like, if you have it as a snack, mix one ounce with something else so you're not eating so much of it at once.
One of my favourite snacks was to cube some cheese, pepperoni and celery or radish, put it in a bowl and eat it a few pieces at a time...gave me that 'popcorn' type of eating experience.

Cheese as a snack food, can be easily overeaten. I find those string cheese strips are easy, because they are each 1 ounce, and I don't have to measure....just keep track easily of how much I eat. I have a cheese slicer, that slices 1 ounce slices,,,again easy to track. I really watch my cheese intake, as it has caused my weight loss to slow down periodically. :nod
