  • I cheated

I ate a bowl of cereal last night....like almost midnight last night. My stomach was hurting so bad. I had the worst cramps and um bowl issues and convinced myself that I couldn't make it through with this WOE. It was the WORST bowl of cereal ever. BUT I am not kicking myself and totally blowing everything like I would normally. My question is do I start my induction at day one again (I was only on day 2) or do I go on and count this as day 3?

On a possative note I got on the scale this morning, I know we shouldn't but I needed some positive affirmation. I lost 3 lbs in the last two days!

Well, Im a newbie here myself, and I have read alot of the forums, and whenever you slide of the wagon sort of speak, they said to pick up where you left off and try it again. So no, don't start over, just start as your day 3. Just remember, you CAN do it! Good luck! :hug

carry on from where you left off and stay away from the scales until the last day of induction or you may not like what you see after eating cereal :yikes
what you dont see cant hurt or derail you :joy

      good luck :hug

        Move forwards

Just move straight ahead and keep going. In my previous 2 attempts when I cheated during induction, i would extend my induction time longer to makeup for my cheating. That was just my personal choice. I've been cheat free now for about 9 days and it's working better than ever. It's like a "light" switch in your mind, you gotta turn it on and focus.

I had stomach pains the first few days. It felt like something was "missing". Cheese helps me. After about day 3 or so, I totally lost my appetite.

        Good luck!

Yep, that's right Shay, if you are in the middle of Induction, then carry on as though you never cheated - you don't start all over again!

I've been doing Atkins for 4 months and yes I have cheated. But the most important thing is the attitude YOU have, which is to pick yourself up, learn from it and move on - otherwies you're just going to feel bad about it and this could potentially lead to emotional eating/binge.

So true because I have been there. In fact, I cheated a few days ago with cereal and cheescake because it was my birthday. It was damn good too Never start over after a cheat cause chances are you will cheat again further along in the diet (hopefully not though). With so many start overs comes discouraging thoughts and lost of hope or motivation to continue. So brush off the cheat as if you didn't and continue on. You may want to extend your induction period by a day or two (you don't have to but it may take away that guilty feeling). This may sound funny but when I get an urge to cheat, I look at the cheat food of choice (i.e. cake or brownies) and say :nono drugs are bad out loud. For some reason, the cake or brownie doesn't look as appealing any more and walk away at that point
