  • An Old Newbie...back on track...

    Hi,

I recently (Jan) moved to Germany from Florida with my husband and 2 children. Prior to coming here I had successfully reduced my weight using Atkins and 2 hour daily work out regimens by approx 70 going from 310 to 249. Since arriving here I have gained 20lbs as I haven't been on this way of eating or exercising at all. There was ankle high snow, we lived in a hotel for 4 months. We have a home now and the weather has improved. My husband took trip back tothe states so I started Atkins on Mon. This is my third day. I have a headache. I am lethargic, and just plain melancoly. I won't weigh myself until Monday morning (1 week), but I was in ketosis already on yesterday. I am tired of red meat and chicken already. I had flounder grilled in butter for breakfast and some lemon chicken for lunhc, but I had to force myself to eat the chicken. I have drank at least 10 glasses of water per day.

I have successfully done this before and my goal of 167lbs was in sight. I just want some tips on staying on track and looking forward instead of dealing with the moment. I have a 2 year old that cooked oatmeal for this morning. I was so proud of myself for not even tasting it.

Anybody out there where I am? Care to chat? I am 6 hours ahead of EST.

    Welcome Back

    Simone,

Hi and welcome. I'm assuming your a military spouse? I am also a military spouse and know how easy it is to lose focus during so many family transistions. You're in a new place and still adjusting.

First things first, stay focused on your goal. I attempted Atkins twice in the last few months just to see what I could get out of it, but this time is my 3rd and I"m fully committed. You know the way, you've done it before. For many of us, you've already experienced the success from this WOE. I know that my motivation comes from myself first, but this site is so wonderful. You couldn't ask for any better support from it's members.

Thank you. I am not a millitary wife, however, my husband's job is closely affiliated with the government so we usually live near a millitary base.

You are right. The adjustment is not an easy task. It was bout 78 degrees when I left Florida. When we arrived in Germany it was 16 degrees and no green to be seen, only white. I was horrified. Daily it gets better. I don't want to return home heavier than when I left. I am committed to seeing my goal met weight wise and healthwise. I am committed to learning the language and to giving my children the experience of a lifetime.

        I appreciate your encouragement.

As far as food goes, I know i can have any meat. I just don't know any way of cooking it that would be consistent with induction. You are right, I need to go back to my book. I have the 3 atkins cookbooks in a box somewhere!
