  • Can I choke my scales?

Ok I'm in my 2nd week. I have not cheated. I checked my ketosis and I'm there. I've been going to the Ymca and riding the bike (working up a sweat). Drinking loads of water.

The first week, I lost 8lbs in about 2days, then I gained some back the 3rd, 4th and 5th day. By the 6th day, I had lost a total of 13lbs.

This week, I have steady gained everyday. I'm up 5lbs. I'm in my 4th day of the 2nd week and still have not shown a loss.

Is this common? I know I'm weighing to much probably. But I can't help but jump on in the morning. I want to know that this is working and I'm not doing this for nothing.

On a brighter note, I did lose 2 inches from my waist and bust line and 1/2 inch from my neck. I'm just concerned about the scale. It's a brand new one, so it should be accurate. Anyone else having this problem?

    Thanks, Misti

Hi Misti, from another Misty....... :wave
Everyone's weight tends to flucuate a few pounds everyday. As long as you are loosing inches, then you are doing it all right! Hang in there you will see more changes!! :icondance

Alot of folks get really upset with the scale. You may have to choke that scale, and go by a tape measure. Thats what is suggested in the book and on this forum. You still have a good loss for induction. Well maybe just hide the scale for a week. A person's weight will flucturate through out the day, and on a daily basis. If you ate a heavy meal the night before, or weigh after a meal the scale is going to show a different weight. Do you weigh when you get up in the mornings? Are you are sticking with induction friendly foods? The one thing that comes to mind is salt intake causes you to retain water. You may want to try using a salt substitute. Many of these foods are filled with sodium already. Another thought comes to mind is that some of these foods have below one carb will show as 0 on some ingredients. In my opinion anything that shows 0 carbs should be counted as one carb. That maybe sound picky but every carb counts. This is just one opinion. You will probably get more suggestions more thorughout the day, and can weigh out your options. (no pun intended)

        Put the scale away!! :yes

And give this a read, it's a sticky in this forum

The scale is not your friend...the tape measure and your clothes are your friends! I know it's nice to have a number to tell people (I dearly love saying I've lost over 40 pounds) but it's when I slip my size 12 pants on that I get the biggest rush.

Couldn't agree more with what has been posted. If you're eating your Atkins, drinking water and exercising, you're going to be successful!
