    Hi.

Being overweight is a risk factor for infertility. I'm not sure how it works, but here are some links I found for you.

Speaking from one person that was overweight with my last pregnancy (well actually 2 lost one). I had a luteal phase defect due to my weight. My and my husband will be trying again the end of this year and hopefully all 76lbs will be gone also. My dr. explained to me if I was in better shape and not overweight i should not have any problems. Not to mention i was gestational diabetic (BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT!).

        Hi,

I have two children 4 and 2. After my second I put on about 60 lbs and all the sudden my dh and I can't get pg. I don't have a regular period and I am not ovulating. I went to my OB/GYN thinking something was terribly wrong...and it was all due to my weight. My OB explained that estrogen stores in fat and when there is this much of it, it effects my hormone balance...thus the female problems. So yes, unfortunately it does cause fertility issues. I want to lose my weight then in a couple years try for number 3. I was slightly overweight when I got pg with my second baby but nothing like now.

Well me, personally.... I never had a problem getting pregnant. I gained 115 pounds with my first......lost about 30, then a year and a half later, pregnant again. I gained about 30 pounds. Finally I got pregnant with my third and final.
When I was 14 I was told that I couldn't have kids due to I developed several cysts on my ovaries and they were severely scared. Three years later, here they come.
Doctors do say that being overweight will make it harder to get pregnant, but in my case, I think I was too fertile. Seems everytime I "looked", there I would be pregnant! ( I was on the Norplant also) I was very lucky to be so fortunate to have my three kids, who are now 14,12 and 9.
