once you decide you want to lose weight then you will be able to stick and lose doing Atkins but if you start a half hearted Atkins you will get half hearted results so sit down and write it out on paper exactly why you need at this time to lose weight and why you don't tehn give a value to each statement from 1 to 100 and total up both papaers see which is higher and that is what you truely want right now. When you truely want to lose the weight and are ready to make a full time commitment to doing Atkins you will be an atkins success story.

It is easy to justify in our minds I'll just have one of the kids fries it will not hurt that much and then you do it again and again and soon you are eating high carb and your Atkins is in a pot hole somewhere patiently waiting for you to come back.

Find your motivation within yourself and you will be a big loser.

Speaking from a person that has yo yo'd all her life.....you just need to make up your mind on whether or not you really want it or not and STICK TO IT! I had to finally come to a conclusion this is it...and it's gonna WORK!

        Best of luck to you.

From one yo-yo to another we both need to cut the string and stop bouncing around.

At 3:00 am this morning I had a long talk with myself. My "struggles' and constant cheating is just one big excuse for staying fat!! It's not about being weak or struggling to stay clean. You just do it or you don't. Cheating and struggles is just a waste of my time. Either I want this or I don't want it. Every single time I cheat I choose to stay trapped in this fat cumbersome body. So here I am, cheat free, posting on ha , and sipping my water. Everyday is a new day, every minute is a new begining. Grap your life by the throat and just do it!

So many times I have told my self, "This is it! I am gonna do it this time!" then I get stressed out and binge and it gets so frustrating cooking food for my family that I can't have. My husband eats whatever he wants and doesn't really gain weight, not that he's thin, but he pretty much stays at the same weight, up and down about 10 lbs.

I feel like I want to lose weight more than anything, I obssess about it, I have honestly thought, What will I think about when I am skinny? I just don't know what else to do. It seems so hopeless, I guess I'm the only one that can help me though.

I was lucky because my DH was happy to Atkineer alongside me but many other members here were in your situation when they started.
From their postings it appears that they coped with the 'separate menu' problem by preparing basically the same menu for all but cooking extra dishes such as potatoes, carrots, peas, corn etc for the rest of the family.

Or instead of adding the non-induction veggies to a casserole or stew they cooked those separately. Chile sauce they cooked first without the beans then reserved their portion to eat with salad and added the beans to the rest.

There are many yummy Atkins recipes that others love - mashed celeriac with plenty of butter and pepper tastes better than mashed potatoes my husband reckons :yes and the crustless quiches and bikergoddess pizza are favourites of many people's non-Atkins family members.

Have you discovered our cooking forums at teh bottom of the forums list? If you post a request for ideas there I am sure you will get lots of advice. :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

My husband and children eat totally different than I do. This is a fact I cannot change. (per my pediatrician, you can't make them eat, you can't make them sleep, you can't make them potty--pick you battles!) I make two different meals, sometimes three. And in all honesty mine always looks the most delish!!!!! It is very hard to not finish off what they leave on their plate (yes they are all men--no offence-- But I know that if I am going to be a happy healthy wife and mom I HAVE to do this. I am commited to doing this. Make a commitment to yourself. I have used that word a lot on this board so far, but i feel like people today in alot of situations (diet, marriage, work, etc.) don't use it enough. Make a contract with yourself and stick to it. You gave birth and are raising to 3 (amazing I am sure) children, this is a piece of steak, compared to that!!!!

I too have a family I cook for. I usually make the same main dish for everyone (chicken, kabobs, hamburgers, meatballs ect) always put a salad on the table and then make an extra simple side dish for the rest (rolls, tortillas or buns, I just skip that part for my self). I find it helpful if I put the stuff I can't have right on thier plates before I set the table and don't have extra. I don't really cook all that differently for them, it takes time and practice but it's totally do-able. Over the past 2 years I've made a 30 day family menu. If you want some specific examples, I'd be happy to share

Actually, you can change their meals. You just have to lay down the law: Mom's cooking 1 dinner. If you want to eat it, fine. If not, you'll go without until breakfast.

I work in a doctor's office and believe me, we see our fair share of moms (and dads) who are essentially short order cooks for their families. Their children are picky, picky, picky eaters who typically prefer chicken nuggets, french fries and mini-pizzas over real healthful food.

See what everyone likes. If the family likes chicken, then cook a basic chicken dish. Have vegetables for everyone. For the starchy carb eaters, provide them with that.

You can have "treat night" where they can have their specialized foods and menues. But the rest of the week--mama rules.

As for their plate leftovers, if they are old enough, train your men that after dinner, they are to take their plates and scrape off the remainders directly into the trash can or garbage disposal. You can train them to put their now empty dishes into the sink (and later on you can train them to wash, rinse and dry those dishes). Their future wives will thank you for it.

stop whining about hubby's metabo;lism and accept the fat that God made you different and an a unique individual you need to uitilze your strengths to make you a success and not whine about no fair he can eat anything and be skinny.

Set some time aside and cook up a storm having all the foods you need already fixed then freeze some individual servings. i cook a large pan of chicken or gb or pork and don't flavor it then I finish it off with whatever flavors I want that day I'm eating it so it never gets boring. Cooking for yoiur family is easy just feed them Atkins with larger servings of veggies and make them healthy too. They eat maintenance you eat your phase.

Now get yourself started! what are you having today and what are you doing for your exercise besides chasing 3 kids?

GASP!!!!!!!!! Have them clean up after themselves?!?!?!? They are still getting over the shock of having mommie/ wife "ignore" them while I exercise ( phone off--hubby can't call--, children with toys and video in their room & I do not intervine unless someone is bleeding) I am working on understanding that to be a better spouse, mommie I have to make what I am doing for me a priority. I like the idea of not having my future daughter in laws curse me for raising their husbands to act like slobs!!! I give my own mother in law (whom I adore!!) a hard time about that myself all of the time!!! Thanks!!! I just love you guys!!!

And yes men have a better metabolism. Accept it and move on. My hubby can toot and loose 5lbs. I can't so I need to concentrate on what I can do, have crab legs YUM and exercise. Which is more enjoyable a toot or Crab legs I ask you?

Okay, hubby is a lost cause, because if he wasn't trained early, it'll be next to impossible to train him now.

There's still hope for your sons (and, do you want to be responsible for more slobby men on this planet?) (While you're at it start training them to separate laundry, do laundry, fold, iron, and put it away----think of all the time that you'll have to exercise if they learn to do simple things like that!)

But seriously, figure out what they like to eat. Make one main protein dish and one main vegetable dish. Prepare extras for those who eat that stuff.
