    Re: Easy Flax bread

You're welcome! and you can have flax on induction! I can't remember where it is in the book and my sis has it right now, but it's recommended to help with regularity.

Yes - Tigger is right, ground flax (linseed outside USA) is allowed on induction under the section covering coping with constipation!
But be sure to only introduce one tablespoonsworth of flax to start with - as too much can really 'bung' you up!! And drink extra water with it to help get things 'moving'.

To use flax/linseed as a regular food item in larger quantities you need to wait till the 'nuts and seeds' rung (level) of Ongoing weightloss (OWL).
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            Never thought of that.

Have you made dumplings or cobblers with flax, Eli?

No - I have used it as a top 'crust' on braised meat to make a 'pie' though.

How did that work? The flax mix is ususlly a fairly runny batter. Or did you cook it first, lay it on top and bake it again?

Brian let the mix sit about 5 min and you will be amaxed at the change in texture. You can actually turn the spoon upside down and it will not fall out.
Flax pancakes work so much better after the mix develops cause they can hold more bubbles and rise better.

I discovered by accident that if left for half an hour (the phone rang) it thickens up appreciabley! Not enough to roll it out like real pastry but enough to stay on top of the precooked meat.

I'm really not trying to be dense here, but would one piece a day of the bread (even if not needed for, ahem, medicinal purposes) be within the acceptable range for induction? I mean, it wouldn't fall into the "regular food item in larger quantities" category, right?

it has to do with the chemical properties of flax. you can actually fix so you can whip it like egg whites. you have to simmer it, strain it, abd chill it but it is a great egg sub for anybody who can't have eggs.

Carrieh there was some discussion about if we could just go ahead and ad it after reading Dr Atkins recommendations about fibers in his earlier chapters.

He is very clear in the induction chapters both 11 and 18 if you get constipated you can use it. That means you can keep using it once your constipation is gone
