depends on how much weight you have to lose
you shouldnt stay on induction for ALL your weight loss , need to go through the other stages of atkins , ongoing weight loss -owl- , then pre maintenance for the last 5-10lbs before going onto lifetime maintenance once your goal is reached
grab a copy of dr atkins new diet revolution (DANDR for short) , from amazon.com , we have links on this board for it
costs $8 or less for the paperback , and its a necessary read to do atkins properly
good luck on your weight loss journey, feel free to ask questions as they will be answered here27/m HW:285:CW:198:GW:170

I have been on induction now for 4 months and the weight still keeps coming off! I have had my blood work profile done recently and everything was as it should be. I am going to continue induction for a few more months and then will go on to OWL.Second Time Around!

I did induction for about a year and a half before I moved to OWL.
There is a sticky on the 14-day board which might help you decide whether you should continue with induction or move on as explained in DANDR Chapter 13.
It is a good idea for anyone on induction to reread it and answer the 4 questions every couple of weeks in case your situation has changed.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I've been on extended induction since the end of January of this year, and I'm still losing consistantly an average of 12 pounds a month. I feel great physically, mentally, and every which way! :joy I am planning to remain on induction, until I'm about 20 lbs away from goal, probably at the end of the summer.

I have been on induction since Feb and I feel great. I think what it comes dow to is what is right for you. If you continuously fail to stay on induction because you are bored then moving on is the way to go. If you have a ton of weight to lose and you are happy eating induction foods then stay as long as need be.

In my 1999 DANDR, Dr. A said that as long as you have a lot of fat to lose, it is safe to stay on Induction.
I stayed on Induction for a year, and quite honestly, I still keep my carbs between 20-25 per day. A great majority of those carbs are from veggies, which I think is very important if you are staying on Induction. You have to make sure to eat all of your veggies and to vary them as much as possible.
