  • How much is too much

    I often use splenda for my flax seed meals...and i count each packet as 1 carb..but how much is too much? is there a limit?

    Also i bought those atkins morning start drinks and they say they have 0 net carbs...what if i were to drink 3 cups of it instead of one per day...will carbs add up?

    In the 2002 edition of DANDR, which is what we follow on this board, We are limited to 3 servings of sweetner per day.


    Also, as mentioned above we discourage morning shakes aswell. To many stalls in to many people. remember, Not every carb is the same.

      Apart from being better to have proper food instead of the shakes for breakfast you would probably throw out your ratios of fat/protein/carbs as they have 20 grams of protein and only 9 grams of fat.
      If you do decide to use these shakes check on www.fitday.com how they will affect your ratios. You might need to add extra fat.

      Acording to www.atkins.com they contain 5 g of carbs including 3 g of fibre and 1 g of sugar so ought to be counted as 2 net carbs per serving

        its not the shakes...its the morning start drinks..the powder ones...it says 0 net carbs on the outside..u could buy them at gnc

            It still comes down to only 3 sweeteners per day. I have had the morning start drinks and they are so sweet I can no longer drink them.

              they are like a low carb tang type thing meat as a vit c replacement not the meal replacement.

              Dr Atkins in DANDR says drink your water after you have finished your needed water (see the FAQ on water to caluclate your need) yopu can have other beverages as long as they don't have caffiene and don't exceed your daily limits on carbs and sweetners. if an artificial sweetner is listed in the ingredients then the item counts as one and you have to count each serving size based on the manufacterers serving size so a 12 ounce can of soda is 1.5 sweetners in your count of 3.
